Thinking of you all with our very deepest sympathy. Memories of Pat will last forever in your hearts. Love 🌹♥️ Valda & Maurice Mitchell
My first memory of Pat was a long before his flash gold necklace. Mum and I met the maca crew help looking for a wee fella called Mathew that had gone on an adventure. So many memories followed. Sometimes Trace and I heard.. what the bloody hell you two with a chuckle... Or without the chuckle the day we on road delivery cakes. We were parked up in Reefton. We bumped the hand break and we started moving backwards parked cars. Pat saved the day flew into cab and no cakes or cars will squashed. Pat did so much for so many the town in so many ways. For me he the the Greatest, because he and the whole family are kind and genuine. Which is often said but for Pat it's so very true. I'm very sorry we can't be there today I'm sure he will get the send off full of love, laughter and tears as you all celebrate the wonderful family man he was. Love to you all.
To Dianne, Matthew Lisa and Tracey Our thoughts are with you and your families together with the Gibson and McManus extended families. We are both full of admiration of Pat and treasured all the work he did in the community from starter at the races, his dedication to O'Conor Home, to leading our community as our Mayor. RIP Pat. Sorry we cannot be with you all tomorrow to farewell a special person however everyone will be in our thoughts. Caring thoughts from Margaret and Denis Grant
Pat I had the privilege and honour of serving Pat during his time as Deputy Mayor and then Mayor. Pat was a rather reluctant Mayor, not keen to seek adulation or attention, just content with serving his community with dedication, hard work and a parochial passion. But he was a very good Mayor. He provided stability after a period of massive change, inspired me with his selflessness and his generosity of spirit. He was more than my employer, he was a mentor, a person I looked up to and respected immensely. He supported me and gave me space to play my role without political interference. He was highly principled, a man of humility and had an unwavering sense of duty often at significant personal cost in terms of his business, his family and his time. I have fond memories of our time together and send my deepest condolences and love to Di, Mathew, Lisa, Tracey and family. Gary Murphy
Dear Diane and family. Pat was one of the finest people I have had the privilege of working with. I didn't know Pat very well before I became Mayor but it was quickly obvious to me what a great and thoroughly decent person he was. In a very short time he became a highly valued colleague and friend. He was completely focused on what was best for Buller, was wise, a tireless worker and always cared deeply about the community. He became a go to person for me and we worked closely together on many projects. I was thrilled when he became Mayor and I know he did such an amazing job in that role. I am sad that Pat was robbed of his health during the last years of his life and that that deprived him of some of the time he would otherwise spent with his much loved family. A mighty totora has fallen but Pat's legacy will live on. very best wishes to you all.
Best mayor we ever had! All about what what was best for Buller. Love you Pat and Diane always. xxx
