Tributes

I met Roger while living in Cairns in the late 70s. We played rugby both as team mates and rivals. Roger was also a pretty handy at tennis and golf. It was great seeing him again earlier this year at a Cairns reunion held in Brisbane. He spoke proudly about his son Dylan. Roger was always great company. He enjoyed a beer and banter. I’ll miss his cheeky smile. He was a great bloke. My condolences to Dylan, other family members and his close friends. Best wishes, John Collins

It was a shock and bought great sadness to hear of Roger’s passing on Saturday. I would like to extend my condolences to Dylan and all of Roger’s family. He was great mate to all who knew him and a very proud father - being a dad was a role he loved. I will miss all the banter and laughter with him whenever we caught up. He will be sorely missed by all. RIP mate Paul Norton and family

I have been friends with Roger for 45 years. We played rugby with and against each other, listened to lots of music and generally had lots of fun. Roger was a great mate and we have kept in touch regularly throughout the years. Roger always had a smile on his face and brought a smile to many others. I will miss him. Roger has a place in the history of Cairns rugby and will be fondly remembered by so many people who knew him. Janette and i pass on our condolences to Roger’s family. R.I.P. mate. Barry
