Dear Winn, I cannot be there today but as you once pointedly said to me "You can't be everywhere.!!' I would like to say you and Ray left an indelible mark on our musical community...just to walk into the joint and see the hat, and then the ponytail....the Dawsons are in the house.!!! And weren't you just. Always supporting live music...the Alhambra, Billfish, the Jazz and Blues Club, and of course the wonderful Atomic Cafe (121 Cafe)....your love for music evident in your radiance and bonhomie. You were both very cool, and I was honoured to visit your house on occasions and learn a good bit of who you were. And who knew we were living around the Te Kaha area at the same time all those years ago....such a small world but people like you two made it a huge place. My enduring memory of you, Winn, will be at Ray's funeral - you looked a million bucks. Beautifully groomed and elegant - and you sang like a bird for your wonderful man. The best I ever heard you. He's been waiting for you, Winn...and now there you are, just where you are supposed to be....with your Ray forever.
