Well Hugh you would have been amazed that after all these years i am remembering you. I boarded at your your house in Rexwood Street Carterton for around a year. I mostly remember your love of Kippers!!! I'm sorry you have suffered greatly but are now free. I have watched your live-stream and i shed a tear or two. God bless and keep you. Regards Rona

It is hard to put into words what my brother meant to us ,in this world of instant communication it is easy to forget that unless you were a avid letter writer keeping in touch fell by the wayside.in fact we talked more in the last few years than any time in our lives with our age gap and Hugh being away at school then both of us leaving home at a early age we very rarely at the same place at the same time. Hugh was always an inspiration even when his own health was not good he would encourage you to work to improve your own life he will be greatly missed but never forgotten Rupert and Glen

Hugh, the brother I didn’t really know, but I did know. You were 12 when I was born and away at boarding school. When I was 5 and you were 17 you moved to London to live with our grandparents and when I was 19 you moved to the far side of the world. We reconnected on your visits to England and we met Ngaire your beautiful wife. You were a mixture of patience and impatience but always such a kind man and I wish that age gaps and distance had made it easier to really know you better. Yours and Ngaire s hospitality to our daughter Kerry when she visited NZ on a gap year stays fondly in all our memories. Aged under 5 I remember being sent to climb trees first- youngest and lightest first. If it doesn’t break then big brothers would give it a try. Being tied to a tree while the boys played cowboys and Indians and playing cricket with a hard ball ( or else I wasn’t allowed to play! ) the memories were few but firmly remain. Big brother, dad and grandad you will be fondly remembered and sadly missed. With much love, your annoying little sister Carla xxxxxx
