What a truly beautiful soul Aunty Florence is. I feel honoured to be able to call her Aunty. She influenced my life more than she will even know - her ready smile and laugh, soft heart, quiet strength, honesty, gracefulness and thoughtfulness, and the palpable love between her and Uncle Colin. The first time I noticed them holding hands was in 1984. Our family of 6 had driven all the way up to New Plymouth from Nelson squeezed into our tiny little blue Morris 1100. It was Christmas time. It seemed like a huge road trip back in those days! Uncle Colin and Aunty Florence took us for a drive to find some rivers to swim in. I noticed how lovely it was that they were holding hands in the car. As Uncle Colin recently remarked "They've been holding hands for 67 years". My love and thoughts are with the family at this sad time. Here's to a beautiful life well lived.

Aunty Florence was such an influential person in my life. I remember visiting her when I was in my 20s and living in Wellington. She was always ready with open arms, a big smile and generous hospitality. Fast forward to when I became a mum and Christmas parcels would arrive with gifts for my kids (often fluffy while teddy bears) and cards with kind words written. I appreciated her frank-ness (something I'm known for, too) and her heart of gold.

Our thoughts are with Uncle Colin and all the family as you farewell Aunty Florence. We have happy memories of visits with you and of her welcoming hugs. We would have liked to be with you in person today but will be with you in spirit as we share the service from afar.

Florence has been an appreciated influence in shaping my personality. I could always rely on her frankness and honesty. I feel honoured to have been able to speak with her on occasion and did miss our conversations as time took hold. Florence also held a special love for her brother Max that I appreciate. She is an important part of his life and still is, as her love and presence are such that is not easily forgotten. My sadness is with Colin and the rest of the family. Although Florence has now found peace, your Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, and Partner is an enormous loss. She was and will remain one of the great women in my life.

To Uncle Colin and Family Thinking of you all at this time. I have many pleasant memories of Auntie Florence. We know this day has to come at the same time it is never easy. There is a time of sadness and also a celebration of a life well lived.
