This is Bruce and Sylvia Wilson paying tribute to Jean from America. Jean was a favorite friend and neighbor on the beach at Rangiputa for nearly a decade in the early 2000s. She and Bob were the first people to greet us with open arms within minutes of our first arrival down the hill onto the beaches of our shared little paradise. From that moment on we became fast friends, with unending cups of tea, unbounded cheerfulness, fresh fish from the sea, gardening advice, and general counsel about living in the remote Far North and the intricacies of local beach culture. When we weren’t present she was always available via email and phone to offer updates. We shared the indomitable spirit of her life partner, Bob, as he met the challenges of kidney dialysis and then she living on her own. Even after we sold our property, Jean always welcomed our visits and we will cherish our special times together as we reminisced about family and friends. A true angel -- may she rest in peace.

We met Jean & Bob when we purchased a house nearby theirs in Rangiputa. We had seen Jean after Bob had passed but later we sold our house because it was such a long flight from the US at our age. We loved them both and had many wonderful laughs with both of them. I would love to hear back from their daughter Elaine one day. I really loved this entire family. So genuine and great neighbors. Sorry to hear of her passing. I had hoped to make it back one more time but that never happened. May God bless the family left behind.
