Bryan and I met at an EVANZ meeting in Wellington in the 90's and at that time I was General Manager of Regent Theatre Dunedin he asked me if I would consider moving to New Plymouth as there was a vacancy for a General Manager at the refurbished Opera House and the opening of TSB Showplace. He encouraged me to move and take on the role and he mentored and helped me along the way to familiarise myself with the new City I came and settled for two years. He was a generous man with his time, knowledge and friendship. I spent many hours with him and Hazel. RIP Bryan, you have done many roles many curtain calls....that's a wrap, my Friend. Fly High, you wonderful man.
Four generations of our family were involved in supporting/working at the NPOH and later the TSB Showplace. On behalf of those family members and myself I extend condolences to Hazel and family. Brian always had time to listen to me, and I know to many many others. I value the trust he had in nominating me for the inaugural role of trust Chair for the Friends Trust. The DS, the Light 16 and then the BX also feature in my memories of Brian. Take care of each other now, Tony Pugh
Our love and thoughts to you Hazel, Christine, Geordie, Bruce (Our son-in-law), Fiona and their families from here in Wyalkatchem. We have great memories of times shared with Bryan & Hazel during their visits here to WA. We enjoyed many chats about the differences between New Plymouth & Wylie with Bryan always interested in learning more about our little wheatbelt town. Our deepest sympathy. Paul & Glad Wilson and family xxx

The memories as a child never leaves. The Scott family stayed with you and family in New Plymouth and the Eagars would come to Wellington. The kids use to play together and the adults would having a drink laughing away. Your family will miss you dearly. The memories will keep going. You had a lot of Citrons, great smile and kind eyes. Thank you for all the memories x

My deepest sympathy to Hazel and family. it is a real privilege to have known Bryan. I was one of his first family insurance clients over 60 years ago and worked closely with him over many years on the many remodelling schemes for the NPOH/TSB Showplace. What a commitment, what a tireless worker to make the Opera House such a special place in the story of New Plymouth. His knowledge and understanding of how a theatre works guided the development of design issues. His warm and engaging personality along with always being available played such an important part in the success of the theatre as he worked with promotors, producers, local authority and contractors. He shared his time and knowledge with others such as Bowl of Brooklands productions in regard to front of house management. RIP Bryan after a long and eventful life well lived..
Bryan, you can be quoted as saying; "the more you put into it, the more you get out of it, and that's just so for real. I just keep on going and going and going. Today is today and I'll enjoy today." Your legacy will keep on going and going and going Bryan. You helped the city retain it’s Opera House, kept it from deteriorating and continued to care and provide for it under Council control. By co-creating EVANZ you influenced how our whole entertainment industry comes together to share experience to the greater good. Their mentorship program is a triumph and the last conference was 130 members strong. There is a community within the community who are the ones who make a difference. They step up, they volunteer, they create and inspire. Your willingness, dedication and drive in this community was nothing short of legendary. You will be remembered fondly by all who work and care for the TSB Showplace and we will ensure your deeds are known by those yet to pass through its doors. On behalf of the TSB Showplace Team.
