John Percival Eastmure

27 October 193822 December 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Percival Eastmure, aged 85 years. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a man who embraced life with the vigour and grace of a tango dancer. John left us peacefully on December 22, 2023, leaving behind a trail of laughter, memories, and the unmistakable scent of Chanel aftershave. A service to celebrate John's life will be held at The North Harbour Chapel of Dil's Funeral Services, 185 Schnapper Rock Road, Albany on Friday 5 January 2024 at 12.00pm. A Live stream of the service will be available at www.dils.co.nz/s/john Tributes to John can also be made here.

Tributes

Dear Barbara, Andrea and family We are very sorry and sad to learn of John's passing. John was a live wire engaging man with great humour who we were very fond of. Regrettably we lost contact a while ago but hadn't forgotten you both; we wondered how/where you were and only a couple of weeks ago tried to trace you both again. We could only find a Facebook note and concluded you must be living in Napier-a favourite place for you both. All in our thoughts Terry & Colleen

Back in the early 1970s I was contacted by a Canadian university student who was visiting London and had been instructed by his Father to always search telephone directories for our unusual surname as he knew his ancestors had originated from England. .....he found me : we met and thus began a lifelong interest in our ancestry and that's how we met JOHN, first by his Father..... and then a bond was formed......research connected our families, John in New Zealand, Curtis in Canada, Caroline, Richard and Michael in Australia and me, Barbara then in England, together with our families. We have all visited each others countries and marvelled at the similarities that have been passed down the generations in our genes. I hope that my efforts to get us all to join with Barbara and their family via the live streaming, will have worked as we all share his passing and will miss the joy he has brought to our lives... Sleep peacefully John
