Miriam was our Matron of Honor at our wedding in 1961 and made our bridesmaid frocks and my going away outfit. She was a very talented dressmaker and a very dear friend. I knew the Marsden family all my life. Ross and I always enjoyed our catchups when Miri and Jack were touring the South Island in their motorhome, in later years with Dave too, trying to squeeze their huge vehicle down our narrow driveway. Dear mum, I just want to say thank you for being my mother-in-law. Since the day you welcomed me into the Marsden household, you have been a great mum to me, that I have never felt lonely in New Zealand when my family are all back in my home country. I always loved to see your bright smile every time Paul and I came to visit you, because you always makes me feel loved, though I can't see that anymore. I enjoy our lunch outings, and the process of deciding whose turn to pay. I will always remember that time we made you angry when you didn't get your way to pay the bill. Your reaction was so cute, I thought. I'm sad that you're not here in person anymore, but I know you are in much better place now. I can't be there to send you off but would like to say that I'm blessed to have you as my mother-in-law, and I will always remember the fond memories we made together. You will always be in my heart.
