Jim Wood was a most promising member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, # 21 Boy Entrants Course of 1964. During that phase of training, Jim was attached to 'D' Flight, and settled in easily to the one year cadet training cycle. At that time he was placed in charge of our D Flight Barracks, and this reflected his potential leadership ability, and sense of responsibility.. Over the next year he began training as an Engine Mechanic, then Engine Fitter. He subsequently became qualified, and served at Base level. Later, at the completion of his Air force career, he continue his aircraft engineering vocation as a civilian. In later years, Jim maintained his contact with his comrades. Jim gathered with us one last time as part of our local Auckland regional group, a few months before passing. We will now miss his conversation, outward going nature, and friendship.
