Funeral service held at Dil's Funeral Services

Tributes

Amanda & I are both very sorry that we could not be at the funeral. Auntie Eileen was a lovely, kind & funny (her humour at its best when making a comment at the expense of NZ sporting teams playing Australia) Aunt. I think Auntie Eileen would be very pleased with her funeral service. Her love of family and influence is very much shown at this service, very moving tributes from all. She leaves behind a legacy of a lovely family, friendships and many happy memories.

EILEEN MARGARET BROWN TRIBUTE My dear cousin Eileen was a very special cousin, friend, mentor and often a go-between for me growing up at home. Eileen was a Daughter Sister Aunty Wife Mother Grandmother Great Grandmother Mentor to all Sportswomen both playing and supporting However I would say TRAVELLER was the number one thing in Eileen’s life. Fortunately Ray also enjoyed the travels and I would say is definitely a 50/50% Kiwi and Aussie!! Back to travel… When Eileen left her family and home in Gwabegar (NSW) and came to the city to find work, her Sydney home for several years was in Granville where she boarded with her Aunty Teen and Uncle George and their young daughter, Gwen (AKA “little Gwen” or “the baby” - depending on who was talking at any time). We shared a room in Granville until life, (boarding school for me and travel plans for Eileen) new adventures for both of us. However Eileen was always a “constant” in my life, always there to help me through my “ups and downs” (there have been quite a few!!) either in person via letters or a phone call. In the last few years travel was not easy, (will we ever forget the Covid Pandemic and all that entailed??!!) Eileen, true to form, managed her failing health to the best of her ability along with the assistance and love of Ray, Narelle, Marilyn, Bradley and their partners, children and friends. Also special thanks to for the ongoing care for Ray as he continues to enjoy the comfort of his family and the wonderful life and times shared with Eileen. Rest in peace my love.

Eileen was one in a billion. Beautiful, humorous, forthright. Always with bandbox hair and dress. Never put on; always herself. A dear friend whenever we wrote or got together.
