DAY, Margaret Ellen (nee Ryan).
On Thursday, January 18, 2024, passed peacefully on the West Coast. In her 92nd Year.
Loved daughter of the late John and Bud Ryan (nee Gilsenan) (of Ryan City Bakery), loved mother and mother in law of Tracy Day, Sharon and Stean May, Benedict Day, and Michael Day, loved Nan of John, Leon, Nana of Michael, James, and Charlotte, loved Nana Min to Cassin, and Novia, beloved sister of Benny and the late Peter Huey, and the late Michael and Cath Ryan, and a much loved Min of her many nieces and nephews.
A big thank you to the wonderful staff at O’Conor Home and Greymouth Hospital for your care of our mum.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Saint Canice’s Catholic Church, Brougham Street, Westport, on Wednesday, January 24, at 11.00am, followed by interment at the Orowaiti Cemetery.
A Rosary will be held in the Church on Tuesday, commencing at 5.00pm, where there will be an opportunity to share your stories.
Donations to O’Conor Home are appreciated and may be made at the service.

You brought sparkle & jazz to that crazy Amanda Ave and we will cherish those memories from our childhood. I’m so pleased my Vincent got to meet you because Grandad never did. She was a beautiful warm hearted lady ..always carrying herself with class and grace 💝 our mother always treated Marg as a sister and we had many connections with her especially as a child ! Tracy, Sharon, Benedict and Michael - so sorry to read that Margaret passed away on 18 January - just a day before Rhonda's birthday. They had a wonderful friendship and I can hear them now having a real giggle together about something or other. Best wishes as you celebrate Margaret's life with family and friends.
