O’BRIEN, Anthony Thomas (Tony):
Passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. Dearly loved husband of the late Elizabeth (Liz). Loved father and father-in-law of Damian and Michelle, and Anton and Cath. Treasured Pop’s of Rylie, and Saphira. A special thank you to the staff at Palm Grove Rest Home for their love and care of Tony. Messages to the O’Brien family c/- PO Box 35, Rangiora 7440. A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at the Northbrook Chapel, Spark Lane (off Northbrook Road) Rangiora, on Friday January 26, at 10.30am.

I loved working with Tony at The Dominion when I was a young journalist, new to a national newsroom. A true newsman and always very encouraging and kind to me. A first-equal favourite among so many inspiring and colourful characters at The Dom. Best wishes to the family.
