In the late 1960's we moved into our new house at 401D Old Taupo, Road, and became close neighbours of Clive and Bev and their 3 young boys, Chris, Duncan and Kingsley. We caught up with Clive and Bev socially now and again and regularly had visits from Kingsley after he'd finished his primary school day - he just loved visiting and asking if he could have a lemonade!!!! Noel, who was also born in 1934, and passed away just 10 months ago, had many conversations with Clive about the NZ rugby and cricket teams. I remember the wonderful years we had as neighbours of Clive and Bev's in Old Taupo Road. Our thoughts are with Christopher, Duncan, Kingsley and families as they navigate their lives without dear Clive. Rest in Peace Clive. Memories are forever. Marion and Vanessa Forrest

Marion and Vanessa Forrest

I first knew Clive as a pupil at ashburton high School. About half the time we were in the same classes. We were also in cricket and rugby teams. After school we were both living in Chriztchurch where we spent a lot of our spare time together. Our families were still in Ashburton. The time in Chch was a life learning time as we matured together. We made several friends together and were both learning about the adult world. THIS INCLUDED BEER. (Those capitals are accidental - but appropriate!!) Included in our friends were John Brophy and Peter Dahm. He was an excellent person to have as a friend. I found that I could talk with him about anything and in retrospect he was a great friend. As time went by we lived and worked in different places and our contact time was much reduced but it was always amazing over the years how contact was a n easy resumption of the past times together. Today is a problem. I wish to be with you now but I am not physically capable of attending a funeral -especially one so far away. Alone I am wishing him well and am thankful for our times together. Goodbye Clive. Murray Todd 28c Second Avenue Whangarei.
