We were lucky enough to have met Ngaire when we stayed with her in her bungalow in Papatoetoe. The first thing we noticed was her paper stapler sat on the rear bumper of her beloved green machine. "Oh, I wondered where I'd left it" she said.! She made us so welcome and we've kept in touch ever since. A lovely, gracious and generous lady who will be fondly remembered.

Aunty Ngaire, you touched so many hearts and created memories which have and will last lifetimes. Aunty Ngaire, you  left us a story of the  importance of family and been connected. .Bless you  for allowing us  to experience a sense belonging and a history rich in the importance of family. We have  indepth  knowledge through you of  where we came from and our links to the European pioneers of our beautiful country. I remember the hours we spent looking for family links on the computer and the journey it then flourished into. You have left a legacy for generations to come. The holidays, the help, and even a place to stay while I found my feet and navigated the big world of Auckland will never be forgotten. The travels in the green mean machine (the Morris Minor)are endless, and remebered well... they bring many smiles as we remember. My children remember you as "Nana Ngaire" and we laugh at how that came to be.. You worked in our childcare centre and became Nana Ngaire all the children who were part of the centre. You went from no children to been the "Nana" to many🌞You touched hearts wherever you travelled. The passion, the love and kindness will be a guiding light as we move  forward on our journeys in life🌞🌞🌈Rest well.....you caught that bus! .....Bless💚.. Michelle, Te Amoroa, Zachariah and Zyanna❤❤❤🌈

Dear Ngaire, We got to know you through Aunty Agnes, and of course Mum - Gloria Rockel (nee Rea). I remember you and Mum with heads together going through family connections, and remembrances. Whilst you were doing that Aunty Agnes and I would be "playing" up and being told to "shhhush". Such wonderful memories. And last November Fiona (sister of mine) and I visited you in the home and took you for a garden inspection. You told us of the flowers and what you used to grow in your garden. Your lovely smile, sense of humour and knowledge of family will be greatly missed. No doubt you are having a wonderful time catching up with all those who went before you. Love Elizabeth King

To my wonderful Aunty. You had such an amazing life and I felt treasured to know and love you. You took over Grandma’s mantle when she passed away and took on her roll for all my younger cousins whom missed knowing Grandma. As my namesake, I followed you into nursing and midwifery which we both loved, not quite prepared to do the PLUNKET nursing yet!! Till we meet again xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My wonderful eldest Sister who was so caring to us all and we admired her so much. Ngaire was the glue to our family and extended family. A very well educated Nurse who practised until she retired from Plunket in Mangere, Ngaire nused Father in his final days and then Aunty Agnes. We are all so fortunate that Brian and Rosanne took up the cudgel to care for Ngaire in her last months , Ngaire will be sadly missed by all brothers and sisters, Nieces and Nephews, Great and Great great nephews and Nieces. She led a full life with her overseas travel and her last few years of delving into family tree and geneology. Thank you Ngaire for the memories.
