Right from the moment she welcomed me to her house, Oma Ria had inspired me in many ways. Her good heart was truly shown through the way she took care of me ("Jangan belajar terus. Ayo kita dinner") and her cook (she specially made me Indonesian martabak when I was home sick). She appreciated every little things that I did, like putting make up on her for Cisca's special celebration or simply just by complimenting my neat handwritings. I was blessed to meet her again back in 2019 and showed my daughter the warmth that I experienced during my university life. I believe God is taking care of you right now in heaven, just like you've always taken a good care of everyone. Rest in love, Oma Ria.

Memories of Auntie Ria embody love, warmth, generosity, selflessness and delicious food. Auntie Ria & Uncle Josh were cherished friends of my late Oma & Grandad and the closest "family" we had in New Zealand outside of our immediate family. I am grateful for all the times welcomed into their home, facilitating fun childhood memories with Cisca & Felix, and for all the delectable food made with love and shared in different homes over the years. Gone but never forgotten. Heartfelt condolences to the Tan & extended families, much love from Larissa, Mia & Zoie.

Memories of Aunty Ria are entwined in the Boogerd family. My mother and father became friends with Aunty Ria and Uncle Josh when l was young. I have memories of going to their home in Parnell, Epsom and Mount Eden and in each home l would feel the same warmth and hospitality. Memories of Aunty Ria cooking are unforgettable. For my children her corn beef and cheese and ham buns were always their birthday party request and they would hide them for later on. My mum was always trying to recreate Aunty Ria Nasi Udok dish because my father always said it was better than hers. There were so many family functions and Aunty Ria along with Aunty Liddy, Aunty Dolly were always there to help and support my mum with the cooking. Whether it was my sisters wedding or a New Year’s Day celebration. I can still see and my mum with her three friends eating, laughing, talking really enjoying each others company. They always rallied together with a lot of joy between them. . A wonderful demonstration for me of friendship between these ladies. Aunty Ria smile her laugh her warmth and generosity will always stay with me. My sincere condolences to the family much love from Doreen my sister Norma my brother Danny and from my four children William Caroline Katherine and Isabella we all remember and cherish Aunty Ria life.
