To Tony my old mate. I have known you a long time. I remember you rolling up at Mt Albert shops in 65 in a white Mk 1 Zepher convertible I gather you brother was at work and you borrowed in for a couple of hours. So 59 years I have known you.I was really upset to hear of your passing I had rang you that morning and the call went to message bank. I rang Jacqui and she told me you had passed at 5 that morning. I had been on leave for a year in England in got back in 1971. I met up with you at the London Bar and you were talking to Jacqui. I knew you were keen it really showed. I indirectly helped you to go permanently with Jacqui as her husband ran off with my girl friend so you took the opportunity to move in. I moved to Australia in 87 however we caught up regularly and it was like time hadn't passed. Sign of a true friend. Will miss you my old mate. RIP "T" Garth
Tony, you’ve left me with nothing but fond memories, taking me to get fast food late at night, setting up the computer so I could latch myself to it and play games while visiting, the treehouse you built me (and the shotgun pellets embedded in it from firing at possums) You’ve never failed to be supportive of me, always so genuine and wise, my only regret is that I didn’t get to spend more time with you. I’ll cherish the time we had and I hope that you rest well.
Mako, we had many a laugh at pool. It was fun being your doubles partner at business house for RSA1. Rest in peace
My dad, Tony, will be remembered for many things. He was the rock for my Mum, Jacqui, offering her strength and support throughout the years. As a father, he was a pillar of support to Katrina, Lana, and myself. He was the smartest person I’ve known, the person you would always go to if you had a problem. Solving problems would make him happy. I’ll always remember those evenings over a glass of wine, trying to solve life’s mysteries together. Though he may be gone, I’ll continue trying to solve those mysteries, inspired by his curiosity and wisdom. Dad’s legacy of intellectual curiosity and support will continue to guide me. Rest in peace, Dad. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
RIP Tony. Another WLT Exchange colleague. Laurie
Mako, my friend, I am so sorry to hear of your passing. I remember clearly that you were the first person I ever played in Business House all those years ago. And later I was honoured that you asked me to partner you in the Colin Whalen, that I had the pleasure of playing in the same team as you for a few years and that I was able to have you over to play on my table a few times with food, a few drinks and friends. Our lives are poorer now as a result of your passing, but yet richer overall from having had the pleasure of your company. I will cherish these memories of you, my friend.
Mako my friend, it saddens me greatly to hear of your passing. While I knew you had had some health challenges, and were not able to play pool at the RSA much as a result, I think we all expected you back one day and never thought that we would soon lose you. I am richer as a player for having played you, and my life enriched by having known you. Tony
