Faye A wonderful celebration of Michael’s life. Great to hear more about the person we had our brief interludes with when managing to catch up over the past 20 years. Someone who belied his age, as was evident by his abundant energy and activities. Right up to the end. Thinking of you and hoping there is much laughter and smiling as everyone remembers their life with him. Love Kris and Andrew
Uncle Mickey, Growing up you were the Uncle I looked up too, being a young swimmer myself, I heard many a story how much you love to swim and complete. I loved that you never gave up, I will always be so proud of your achievements Uncle. Cushla my dear cousin, I'm so sorry I can not be here for you, and the rest of the family. Our parents have a seat in the Heavens, and will always be watching over us.. Love you Uncle, and family. Your niece, Adele
To the Family we are very sorry to hear about Michael. What a Life still competing in Swimming 92. Our condolences to all the family. A very sad Day. RIP Michael
Our family are forever in Mick’s debt, in 1964 he gave my husband Neville Hancock an adult apprenticeship when he left the RNZAF, during that time Nev qualified as an electrician. Without that opportunity I am not sure where we be today. Mick also attended Nev’s funeral much to my and my children’s delight. May he rest in peace. Ann Hancock
Farewell Michael, it was a pleasure knowing you albeit for only a short time. You always had time for a chat and a cup of tea and you were the world to Mum (Fay). Your achievements in the pool and life were nothing but amazing and we know you have left a mark on the world. RIP and sleep easy - Alison, Daniel, Cameron, Simon, Becca and Oscar Casson
I extend my sincere condolences to the Tunnicliffe family on the death of Mick. I was a friend of the Tunnicliffes from when I was a child and went to school with Mick, Bernie and Tony. There was only a paddock between our respective homes Duke/Marlborough Streets. Mick always had something on the go and I remember he rebuilt a caravan at a very early age. I last saw him while attending the centenary of St Joseph`s School in 2006. Rest in peace Mick.
Sorry to hear about Mick's passing he was my mentor as he helped me though my apprenticeship he let me study at his office in feilding and as a result I'm now running my own business in Australia can't thank him enough my condolences to his family at this sad time 😢 😞
