Just heard of the very sad news of Paul Newbury passing away. I worked at Paul Newbury Ltd in the late 1990s and Mr Newbury was a fantastic boss, very fair and kind. He also had a terrific work ethic - opening and closing the garage at 6am and 11pm every day. At quiet times, I fondly remember the chats we had on world affairs, animal welfare and the English language. He was a hugely respected person in the town and his legacy lives on in Droitwich, with many members and the Newbury Motors name. I think of him and the business every time I visit. Very sorry to hear of this news and my best wishes to Nikki, Richard, Janet and all.

In 1948 I moved to a new junior school where I met Paul and he took me under his wing leading to a lifetime of friendship. It was typical of Paul to offer help and support as he was a kind and generous boy which was a characteristic that stayed with him throughout his life. He was always keen to learn about everyone else but reluctant to tell us about himself.When pressed he was obviously very proud of his family and it has been lovely that he has been able to spend so much time with everyone in New Zealand. A lovely man who will be much missed by all who knew him. Richard and Sue Jackson
