Tributes

Di, I still remember the first meal you served up to me way back in ‘97, a Rolled chicken roast for a Sunday lunch and to quote the movie The Castle, “It’s what you do with it.” I had never tasted something so good!! I also remember working on your little car that was put together like a Lego set, dancing in Sydney, and you offering me a hot drink, a bed and a breakfast in a time of need. Thank you for being a great friend to my own mother… We will really miss getting to see you at special occasions. Sending love from abroad to Sarah, Tom and all family.

A courageous beautiful person who cared about and advocated for others, particularly her young women students at Rotorua Girls High School. A loyal friend to many, always ready to share in others life celebrations even when facing her own challenges. Di contributed to the life journeys of many and we now have those memories as you journey to your rest and peace. Arohanui Alison

Sincere condolences to Tom and Sarah and families on the passing of Di. She was a fabulous role model for you all and will be sadly missed. I was so blessed to see her on her final day, and the smiles I saw were wonderful. I know she is in a better place now and pain free. Di has left a wonderful legacy with all her teaching and pastoral care at Rotorua Girls High and how special to have her farewell at the school. Love to you all from Sue, Neville, Melanie and Matt and family from Australia.

Dear Mrs Donnelley, You were the most caring and inspirational teacher I ever had. I remember you calling me into your office numerous times in the last 18 months of high school just to see how I was doing - thank you. Your encouragement to head down to Otago and study Phys-Ed and Education was one of the best things I did. Later, sitting at your dining room table when I was at a cross roads you spoke me through teaching in Rotorua or taking an education role at Sport BoP - thank you for your sound guidance, support and belief in me. You had the biggest smile, the kindest heart and gosh your baking was good! Sending all my love to you Sarah and Tom and to your precious families. Rest in peace Mrs Donnelley xxx Jo

To Sarah, Mike, Tom, Jacque and the family, We are sorry to hear of Di's passing. Di was a beautiful person. Her legacy lives on in you and your families. I have so many good memories of spending time at Old Taupo Road. Di's big smile was often the first thing that welcomed me when I walked through the door. Even if there was 20 of the boys close behind. Nothing was ever a problem and we always felt welcome. We are thinking of you all. Much love from Scotty, Dane, Jen, Pete, Matt, Lisa, Jo, Simon and the Goodwin Clan

Absolutely heartbroken. Such a huge influence in my life. Such an amazing mentor, teacher, boss, mother figure and friend. Di, you taught me so much and inspired me to be a teacher, not just in PE but reaching for my dreams and supporting me by implementing dance into RGHS. All the special cards, gifts, 2am carrot cakes, crazy fun activities and Rangiuru pride. I will never ever forget the impact you made on me. My love, prayers and thoughts go out to Tom and Sarah and their families. Rest in peace beautiful lady xxx Lots of Love Janey. Thanks for believing in me always.
