MAY, Phillip Clifford, (Phil)
The May family would like to thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy following the sudden passing of Phil. To all those who sent cards, messages, flowers, baking, gifts, visits and phone calls, we can assure you everything was read, enjoyed and consumed. We really appreciate your kindness and care. Thank you to the emergency services for your efforts and care of Phil on the night. Special thanks to Sharron and the Macdonald and Weston team for helping us through this difficult time particularly allowing Dream and Nunu to make an appearance at the service, which Phil would have appreciated. Please accept this acknowledgment and appreciation for all the amazing support we have received over the weeks following. Although we know Phil would have liked a massive send off we can assure you the family raised their glasses many times.

Phil‘s sudden passing has been such a shock to us all. My deepest sympathy goes out to you Margaret, Jamie, Bradley and your families. I know he will be sadly missed. My earliest memory of Phil was Queen’s birthday 1970 and Phil sprinkling white pepper all over his mushrooms until everyone at the table started sneezing. He loved his greyhounds, farm animals and especially “The Little White Bull”. Phil was always a gracious host of many family gatherings and his Oreti fritters were something else. He was completely dedicated to his family. Phil’s resilience and determination following his amputation where to be greatly admired. He was never going to let it get the better of him. With his strong will and Margaret’s loving care, he overcame so much. I’ll always remember our trip to Vanuatu over 10 years ago and how he was determined to walk everywhere, even through streams and up to waterfalls. My loving thoughts are with you all today. Take strength from each other and know that he has left a lasting family legacy and the world is a better place for him having been in it.
