I couldn’t have been much more than three years old when the Wareing family left the UK for New Zealand but I was aware, perhaps as much from comments in the months and years that followed, just how momentous that decision was and how much they would be missed. So in 2016 it was a delight that I was able to fulfil a lifetime ambition to visit the country and catch up with relatives that had lived apart from us for so long. You will remember, Clive, it couldn’t have been a much worse time for us to arrive; Barby wasn’t particularly well and you were both coping in a temporary home while the building project was in full swing for your new house; and now you had a great big motorhome stuck in the drive! Barby took it in her stride and entertained us admirably, taking us round the places to see, although I’m sure she didn’t feel the least like doing so. It was so good to spend time getting to know her and her quick mind. Perhaps what struck me most, Clive, was the very close, loving relationship that you enjoyed together. We recognise how hard it will be for you in the coming months to adjust to life without her, so our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family and we hope that in time you will make it here to the UK where the journey for Barby began. Much love, Ian & Hazel

We have lots of memories of our times together in New Zealand and England. Barby, my favourite cousin, was a wonderful, kind caring person who enjoyed life to the full. I especially remember the time Barby and her Mum stayed with me in London, visiting other relatives who were keen to see them including Aunt Phyllis and Uncle Arthur. Suzanne and I had an unforgettable visit to NZ in 2018, meeting most of the family, especially Linda and John, for the first time - Clive, remember the plunge pool? The thoughts of all the Wareing family will be with you today. Much love to you Clive and all the family from Sandy and Suzanne
