Tributes

Glenda and I were so sorry we couldn’t make it to Arnie’s funeral. We’re grandparents ourselves now and some last minute babysitting duties put paid to our intentions! We got to know Arnie and his dogs very well (he was an open book, eh?) soon after purchasing our section in Kukupa three doors uphill from his place nearly nine years ago. Like others in our little neighbourhood, we’re wondering who’s going to deal with the fallen trees and keep the roadside grass tidy now! We considered planting a tree in tribute to Arnie or maybe maybe dedicating an existing one to his memory, but hell, he planted most of them! They are nearly ALL Arnie’s trees! I guess that’s a wonderful legacy to have and a great way for us to remember a dear neighbour. Arnie frequently used our entranceway as a turning bay. The last I saw of him he was doing just that, just days before he passed. He gave me a wee wave out the rear window of his truck. It’s an image I’ll keep. Our very sincere condolences to Arnie’s family, David and Glenda Johnstone
