A Life Well Lived
He rose each day with steady hand,
A man who worked, who took a stand.
Yet more than labour, more than pride,
His heart beat strongest by their side.
For love was found in family’s glow,
In sons who learned, in seeds he’d sow.
With Katrina near, his truest friend,
A love that held until life’s end.
Among the fields, the stock, the land,
He cared for creatures, earth, and sand.
A quiet peace, a gentle way,
He found his joy in each new day.
But not his home and kin alone,
His heart reached further, widely shown.
A man who served, who gave his all,
Who answered when his town would call.
And so he lives in memory bright,
A steadfast soul, a guiding light.
For love endures, though he has gone,
In all he touched, he still lives on.
I'm so saddened to hear of Mikes passing, he was an awesome family man, friend, and colleague, he gave his heart and soul to his job. He was one of the "Good Guys" Big hugs to Katrina and the boys, I always remember the wonderful smile Mike had when Dakota was born and he talked about his family. My best memory of Mike is when he turned up to a home birth that needed transferring to hospital and he had brought me a mince pie, will never forget that. RIP Mike, see you in heaven one day And love to your family x
I had the pleasure of growing up with Mike, Paul and Alison as we lived directly across the road from the France family in Clyde Street and spent lots of time together as kids. Whilst we each grew up, and went out separate ways, my Dad and Mike connected again through St Johns. I cherish our childhood summertime adventures, riding on bicycle handlebars and building hideaways in random places. May your family find strength in the happiness you brought throughout your lifetime and in the amazing impact you've had on those you leave behind.
Mike’s son Jessie and my daughter Paige went to primary school together. During that time I met Mike as we were both very involved with the PTA and had lots of great times. Years later I had the privilege of working along side Mike at St John. He was so welcoming, helpful and he had lots of patience showing or explaining things over and over again with his great smile , humour and some swear words in between. My thoughts go out to his family. R.I.P Mike until we meet again, keep smiling .
There are truly no words to express the sadness and disbelief I feel at your departure from this world. In life, we are fortunate to meet extraordinary people, and you, Mike, were undoubtedly one of them. Among all the various roles you had throughout your life, being a father to your boys and a partner to Treen was your most important role. Anyone who knew you could see that in the many conversations shared around the table. You will be deeply missed. Goodbye for now, my dear friend. Michelle Waller
There are no words to express the deep sadness we feel at your departure from this world. Occasionally, we encounter true treasures in life, and we were fortunate to have you in ours. You possessed many outstanding qualities as a man, but I know that being a family man was among the most significant.. Goodbye for now, my Friend Michelle
Mike was a wonderful man Funny, taught well, calm, positive and a great human being, you couldn't fault the man. May his family know we are always here for them. He will be missed so much May you be at peace now and shine like an angel for the ones who still need you xxx

Mike, We will miss everything about you. Your unwavering support for the Health Shuttle and your presence at every event meant more than words can express. Mike, I will always remember your haughty laugh, mile wide smile, wicked sense of humour & steely courage. You faced the battle head on and never gave up. RIP friend🙏🏻❤️
Mike, our time together as double-crewed paramedics was a bit of a gift those years ago —marked by trust, quiet humour, and unwavering dedication to those who needed you. Taken from us in what feels too soon, I take comfort in knowing you are no longer in pain. Your leadership on the St John Area Committee and commitment to the community will leave a lasting legacy in our rohe. Fly high, Mike - you will be missed.
Mike, we will miss your laughter, the conversations, but NOT getting your pigs to load in the trailer! Rest in peace and without any more pain. You will be deeply missed Mike but never forgotten.

It was truly a pleasure working alongside you on the ambulance. Your constant joy and willingness to share your knowledge and skills made every shift better. It's still hard to believe you're no longer with us—I my friend will miss you deeply. I missed Richies, I won't miss yours.
Mike was one of most caring funny man I have had the pleasure to work with. His commitment to working with the St Johns , school board was inspirational and heart warming to all. I am sad he has passed, the world has lost a wonderful person.
I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mike France. I regarded Mike as a good friend. As board chair at Central Kids, he worked hard to ensure the board strategies were focussed on what was best for children and their whanau. Mike was also a leader whose kindness and integrity were core attributes that I appreciated in my role as CEO. Mike cared for people, made time to listen and will be missed by many.
