One of the downsides to living outside NZ for so many years is that important news sometimes escapes you. I have just now come across the news of Kevin’s passing! Kevin was my first boss at WV Pattersons. He took me on as the after school lad, then permanently and later in university holidays. I could not have had a better boss working with Kevin, Basil, Tom, Ian and Mrs P. Wonderful times, lots of laughs, and great life skills learned for which I am forever grateful. My condolences to Bronwyne and family. I am sorry the news came to me so late but humbled that I can leave a small memory here. Thanks Kevin.
Kev and Bron were remarkable friends to us over many years, wether travelling oversease or just plain chewing the fat. Many glasses of red wine were enjoyed while often overseas playing Coniva which Kev just loved to win and he was good at soring for all of us. Many fond memories shared by us both, Well Remembered by Ross and Colleen .
Such a wonderful friend, so many memories of Bron and Kev. Having drinks at your place and then it's 4am. Always quick witted, always a new joke. We were so sorry that we couldn't be with you to say goodbye, but we did get up at 4am to view the service. Knowing Kev would say 'good job' Sending love to you all. Bernadette + Graeme
To Bronwyne & Family Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family on the sad loss of Kev. He was always so friendly and caring with a great sense of humour. He will be so sadly missed. Thinking of you all. Diane Manu-Birss & Warren Birss
Beautiful service everyone. I remember Kev very fondly from an early age, sitting up on the mezzanine floor of Paterson’s menswear in a starched white shirt, exuding smart and strong, always welcoming. The playful glint in his eyes and that ever-present warm smile are my memory. I can understand why he is the constant centre piece of the family and loved by many others. Rest in peace, Kev, and love to the family
To Bronwyne and family, Marie and I were saddened to read of Kevin's passing and are thinking of you and the family at this time. Kevin was a person who was widely respected in business circles and we value highly our association with him down through the years. Shaun and Marie Grace.
I was fortunate enough to be employed by Kev, It was my first full time job, Kev wasn’t just a boss he became a father figure and would come and watch me play rugby. I’ll never forget his kindness and loyalty at a time in my life when thing turned bad. Thank you Kev, not only a gentleman also a gentle man. My Condolences to Bronwyn and all the family, including Terry. He will be sadly missed. Say gday to Mum Kev.
Dear Bronwyn & Family, I was saddened to learn of Kev's passing and always enjoyed the catch up's at the Nice Hotel. Thinking of you at this sad time but you will have many wonderful memories which will live on with you all. Rest In Peace Kev David McCarthy
Kev The most wonderful family friend you have been to the Rowlands. We all loved you so much, Mum and dad are saddened they can’t honor your memory with your family today, but will be watching on from afar. Your quick wit and humor along with a very kind and caring nature is what you will be remembered for. Along with stashing wine bottles in gardens with dad and making all passengers car sick (including) the front seated ones with your driving. To a life well lived Kev may you rest in peace. Lots of Love Cleo xxxx
A nicer man you could never meet…Kev I know when we met it was like a bombshell you bought GQ menswear & inherited me. Little did we know the dramas & fun to follow !!!! I remember going w you & Bron to a funeral & something was said & we got the laughs & couldn’t stop. The outrageous nights out for dinners ( escargot) times away on buying trips & oh god the robberies at the shop!!!! The support you gave Finn through all the troubles… poor Brin. That was all over 40 year’s ago. So much water under the bridge. You will always be remembered by me fondly RIP. Kev
Dear Bronwyne & families Sending our love & deepest sympathy to you all Regards Noel & Maria Schrider
We were very saddened to hear of Kev's passing, a great man gone far too soon. While I haven't seen Kev for some time, I'm remembering back on some funny moments when I worked with Kev and how it was nothing for him to just drop his pants to try on clothes when a travellers came and didn't care who was in the office ie me. Bronwyn and Kev treated me like family and I am forever grateful for the time I spent working for them. Fly high Kev xx
