Tributes

I’m so sorry to learn of Aunty Jill’s passing and so very sad for my mum. Sisters are forever ❤️ Us Scates/Gordon’s have all lived lives so very far apart and the older I get the more I miss my immediate family and long for us to be physically closer. I was lucky enough to see Aunty Jill in 2009 when I visited NZ with my late daughter Grace and again in 2016 when Traff and I were able to attend Uncle David’s 90th birthday party and meet lovely family and especially reunite with Bill, my twin 1962 cousin!! Lately I’ve enjoyed chatting with Jill via social media and sharing photos and so loving her droll humour and quiet wit. Rest peacefully Aunty Jill and love and strength to everyone. Love Heather and Trafford in Canada/Mexico ❤️

Gillian Gifford was not only my maternal aunt, but also my Godmother. Sadly, we were geographically separated our whole lives. I lived in Zimbabwe and now in South Africa. My first memory of Auntie Gill was staying in her Leatherhead flat in Surrey, UK. That was in 1965 and Auntie Gill kindly allowed my family to stay, after our return from Hong Kong. Auntie Gill had moved to New Zealand. My last memory is December 2022, when my Mother and I visited Auntie Gill in Havelock North. She gave me a pearl brooch, which was her bridesmaid gift at my parents' wedding in 1957. Thank you for always being an integral part of my life Auntie Gill. I will miss you.. Love always, Judy
