I first knew Caroline as a friend to an important person to me, my mother. “Overtime” is too simple of a word to summarize the journey but… overtime, Vanessa’s and Caroline’s special relationship brought together the outrun cancer community. They together inspired hundreds of runners in Japan and across the world. Many of us joined to show support, but we stayed for the friendships we made along the way. My biggest thanks goes to Caroline. She showed me courage by telling a friend that watching her run was hopeful. She showed kindness by diving into this community of runners on the other side of the pacific ocean. And most importantly she was a great friend to my mum. ありがとう We will take the run from here!

Caroline was a remarkable individual who quite simply changed my life. Caroline's unambiguous outlook on almost all facets of life was an inspiration to me and her infectious laugh lifted any room she was in as well as my spirits. I will forever miss Caroline terribly particularly her advice, wisdom, company and beautiful smile.
