Dear Cousin Darrin I'll miss your devilish grin and your devastating one-liners. I'll miss your richly ribald use of the English language and your ever-present sense of the ridiculous. But I'll also miss your generosity of spirit, your thoughtfulness and consideration, the eloquence of your silences and the depth of character that lay just below the dazzling surface. Thank you for calling me your cousin, when I was only one by marriage. It was always a badge I wore with pride. Shakespeare once wrote of "a fellow of infinite jest". Your jests will long remain in our memories and you are now part of infinity. And, by the way, Merle and I composed our tributes separately. They came out remarkably the same, which suggests we both thought the same about you and and there aren't all that many other things we agree on! Go well! Ian

Our very dear cousin, Darrin, so wickedly funny. The observant deeply kind man, so carefully concealed. His presence was joyful, our conversations with him enormously treasured, and would have become, we imagined, ever more interesting as the years ahead peeled away more layers.
