Tributes

Thank you Brian for being a wonderful friend. I will deeply miss our chitchats, your puns, your quick witted quirky jokes (mainframe speed!) and especially you. Praying for you and your family.

Brian is an ASB legend, and our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends today. Brian and the team built one of the most important parts of our bank which has served our customers and teams members so well over the years. Whilst I didn't work closely with Brian on a day-to-day basis, I was always aware of his presence across our business and services. You will be sorely missed Brian. Rest in peace. DWs

My aroha goes out to all my ASB colleagues that knew and loved Brian. Many of you were much closer to him than I was, but you know his infectious personality certainly touched me like it did all who knew him. Sincere condolences, Mike Allison

Came to know Brian at ASB, Didn't work much together but share a passion for gaming. Played World of Warcraft together with JAC in the early days and moved on to Secret World but will always remember you for your indecisive character creation, Brian would ponder over the perfect avatar to create in game and we would spend hours laughing over our game play when we probably should have been working. Will miss you mate, and you amazing quirky sense of humour.

I worked with Brian from 2008 being integration specialist and thus having often contact with him. I always will remember Brian with fond memories for his sharp mind and open and direct approach. He had a small joke for every occasion and was open to new challenges Being humble and shy he never heralded his achievements. Only people close to him and accepting him understood his dedication to his family and work. Brian will always approach any technical issue with attitude of "She will be all right!" and fiercely defended proper architecture against any political/ tactical decision. Brian often spoke with love about his niece and nephews and shared some small stories with them. Rest in Peace Brian and May the force be with you! Maria

Brian was a founding member of the Brains Trust at ASB. A very smart man and a lot of fun to work with. He will be sorely missed. I'll never forget one day we were discussing how poor my bench press was and Brian had the most Brianesque advice ever - "Just push harder". Genius. RIP BPC.

Thank you, Brian, for all the knowledge you have shared with me (and many others as well) over the years I have worked with you. It has helped me a great deal with a lot of work that I do today and in future as your approach has been set in the backbone of how I think. Your passion for Technology and always being there to provide help with many technical complex issues will be most certainly missed, and all the while doing so in such a cool and calm manner even with my silliest questions. and as Steve already mentioned "They don't make them like you anymore, Brian!" Thank you again. You will be missed a lot bud!

Brian leaves behind a huge legacy and will be sorely missed by friends and family. I had the pleasure of knowing Brian all my life. Brian shaped me into the person I am today. He was a huge role model and inspiration. He was more than an uncle, he was a close personal friend. You will be missed by more than you know.

Lance Holland
