Passed away peacefully in the early hours of Wednesday 29 May 2024 in his 89th year at Cantabria Lifecare, Rotorua.
Loved husband of Gail for 62 years. Proud father of Lynda, Kelvin and Janine. Father-in-law to Simon, Kathryn and Philip. Much loved Grandad to Jonathan & James Hogg, Steven & Jorja Snell, Christopher & Joshua Edgar. Elder son of the late Ken & Vi Hogg (Murray’s Bay, Auckland). Loved brother of Barry Hogg (dec.) and Glenys Allen.
A great believer in family ties and an avid genealogist. A passionate gardener; spending many hours tending the vegetables and Dahlias.
The family would like to thank the many nurses and care workers in the Magnolia Wing of Cantabria Lifecare Hospital, as well as Rotorua Hospice for their care and support.
The funeral service for Mervyn will be held in Osbornes Funeral Directors Chapel, 197 Old Taupo Road, Rotorua on Wednesday 5 June at 1pm.

Dear Gail, Linda, Kelvin, Janine and family, we (Ivana, Kiara and I)would like to offer our sincere condolences due to the passing of Uncle Mervyn. Please excuse us for not being there in person today. Mervyn was for us very much an irriplacable pillar of the family for many years. For me personally, he has been an immensely important father figure, supportive uncle as well as roll model for everything good to be found in a true gentleman. He displayed kindnsss and generosity to Mum, Grant and I for which we will always be indepted. He will be very much missed, but never forgotten; our amazing Uncle Mervyn.
