Tributes

It was 61 years ago I first came across your cheeky grin Lyall when I was lucky enough to meet the Winter Family due to Robyn and Australian girl I was working with in Rotorua when we decided to hitch hike round NZ and arriving in Hamilton to visit my friend Robyn wanted to be in touch with a couple she met on Mt Cook. It turned out to be a great decision as got invited to the farm and meet the Winter family for what should have been for 1 night but turned into a very happy week. When Robyn went back home from Wellington I was lonely and writing to Evan who said come back up here and I was on that train so fast. The family became my NZ family and you all became my NZ brothers and sisters and what fun we all had. It was only natural when you came to England you came straight to stay with us and when we had our son you became his godfather. One of the many funny memories of you was when we were having aFancy Dress party and you came from London for it and when you got changed you were unrecognisable as this sexy girl complete with wig what a the party you cause my brother a bit of worry as he came up to me to say ‘that girl’ keeps giving me the eye ‘ you were a joker and did give us some good laughs. I was so upset to here your passing and more upset to hear how bad your health had been as you hadn’t said just how bad in the WhatsApp text so RIP Lyall. Condolences to Noeleene who a looked after you so well.

TO Noeleene, Melissa & Aaron Sorry I can't be there today to pay my respects to this wonderful man. I know he will be sorely missed and the memories I have of Lyall are of a very kind soul. He was the MC at my wedding and his natural, clever humour was very much appreciated. May he rest in peace - bye Lyall. Kim
