Tributes

What a legend ! Listening to the tributes from friends and family at the service, it reminded me just how much Max managed to fit into his life and what an impact he had on everyone he met. I have extremely fond memories of our days in business together, and will always remember his cheeky smile and his indomitable ability to always stay positive no matter the odds. Max always told me to make every day count, a “maxim” that he lived himself. Reflecting on the photos of Max relaxing with his family and grandchildren still brings a smile to my face. All my love & condolences to Lyn & the family.

Max played a very important part in my professional life. He was always helpful, positive and constructive – and he was never afraid to challenge me. These are great traits in a business colleague – I owe Max a great deal. He was also a fun person and I well remember the Monday morning conversations when we compared the fortunes (or not) of our respective football teams! It was a great privilege to have known and worked with Max. He will be much missed. I want to extend my condolences to Lyn and her family.

Amongst other things, golf provides a great testimony to the character of the individual. When Max became a regular member of our threesome at the Takapuna Golf Course it became clearly evident that he was aman of integrity and impeccable character. From his meticulous care of his golf equipment, to his grooming, his etiquette, his punctuality, his competitiveness, his conversation and playing ability, Max was the perfect playing partner. Max will be sadly missed not only by myself but by all those who had the privilege of playing alongside him.

How very sad I am to hear of lovely Max's passing. He was such a wonderful man/boss over the years I worked with him and his darling Lyn ❤️ What a beautiful service full of lovely memories, song and a bit of cheek. I just had an old disc of photos put on to a USB stick on Saturday, came home to look at them and found a folder of my fabulous mock wedding the office put in for me before my wedding in 2006, all dressed up in pink crepe paper and toilet paper and Max gave me away! I had a good laugh seeing them and remembered what fun he was, only to get a message yesterday telling me he had passed, so, so sad.. Arohanui to you all. Megan x

I have so many great memories of Uncle Max, and they are all entwined in unforgettable Marsh family get togethers. From the multiple Christmases hosted at his and Lyn's wonderful home on Rahopara Street, lots of fun in the pool, to his 60th birthday extravaganza, a tribute to his love of music, Anna and Max's 10th wedding anniversary in France and a coffee on his way through Chambéry in summer 2023. Uncle Max's zest for life was contagious, and his dedication to his family admirable. He will be forever in our hearts, and I will remember him every time I see my own Dad - they are the spitting image of one another! I feel so lucky to be a Marsh.

One of my most favourite people in the world. Warm, wise and loving with a wicked sense of humour and a mischievous twinkle in his eye. A man to truly measure one's self on. I miss our talks together, your (and Lyn's) hospitality and regret not being able to spend more time with you or talking with you as we got older. You always think you have more... Thank you for being a touchstone in my journey through life - I will miss you deeply. Love, Peter
