It was a lovely service and befitting of Nadine's wonderful life. It brought back fond childhood memories of visiting the LaHatte household where things were often more interesting than home. I recall Nadine in the kitchen baking cakes and cookies unfamiliar at the time like Angel Cake and American frosting. Nadine was also very supportive of my creative persuits and it was with pride I could give her a cookbook I had written after all the lovely books she had given me including a poem written when I left for Dunedin and which I reread today as it was appropriate "To a friend departing". Also Louise not sure I can thank Nadine but my favourite children's book is also 'the man whose mother was a pirate's which I have now styled my life and grandparenting on living by the ocean and drinking rum and having pirate parties. Her memory will live on here at Whirinaki Beach. Love to you all.
To the best and loveliest neighbour one could ever have. Our whole family are with you in our thoughts and prayers dear La Hatte family.
She will be missed and for her final performance I say “Break a leg” — sending much love and big hugs to all my cousins!!
