I was really sad to hear this news, I hadn't seen you in some time, but often thought of you and I hoped you were enjoying your life in NZ. You were ever present for our young adventures, when we were all growing up, so much great fun and you were always positive, hilarious and great company. Rest in Peace Steve, you'll be greatly missed.

Steve, you were a true guiding light for me from the first day we met on the Isle of Wight back in 96. Since you left us the memories have come flooding back of all the good times we had and there are so many that I shall forever cherish. The recent chats we were having about the 2005 IOW festival will stay with me as will the memories of that special weekend, music was a big connector for us and there are so many songs that remind me of days lost with you. You were a beautiful person mate who will be missed by all but your friendship made life better and that is something I will hold dear to me forever. Rest easy mate. Dave

I’m so sad to hear you’ve gone Steve. We were only chatting a couple of weeks ago. I knew you were struggling but had no idea how much. Many happy memories of you coming round our house in the 90s in the pub days. Staying up chatting all night. It was good to see you a few years back when you came to Aylesbury to meet some of us. A kind and sweet soul, I am glad you’ll be at peace now mate. Lots of love to you our Little White Holgate.. you’ll be missed by us all. Your Liz Friend xxx

It was only 10 weeks ago. I came out to visit you in Auckland. 43 years We've known each other and with you. I have the best memories. Going on to a Kibbutz in 93 was a major highlight in my life. And learning this news is devastating for all who loved the Steve we knew. From Whiteside to the Lightside The 85 fa cup final will stay with me forever. Miss you.

Ky

Totally saddened and stunned from learning you had left us, Steve. We had so many happy times, lots of laughs and crazy times! Such a beautiful human, inside and out. I’m just so sorry we weren’t there for you when you felt so alone. Shall never forget our times together at McD’s days, sharing a house with together and our many evenings spent having ‘deely intellectual’ conversations whilst completely pickled from cheap Bulgarian wine from the Spar shop! I will always treasure our little reunion in Aylesbury with Damien and George. Glad we had that time together. I will miss you, bro. Deepest condolences to all your family. Rest in peace, Steve xxx

It is with great sadness that I write this tribute to such a lovely and gentle soul. Steve was a very special man and loved by so many. I have known Steve since he was a babe and have watched his life unfold as he travelled the world looking for peace and fulfilment. It sadly eluded him but he spread his kindness and generosity of spirit to all who knew him throughout those years and will never be forgotten. He was so far away from us but always a part of our family and will be very sadly missed. Rest in peace now Steve, we love you.
