Tom, Tom, Tom . . . We will miss the glint in your eye, the checky smile and that contagious laugh! You always lit up a room when you entered! We always enjoyed the gatherings at yours and any time that we caught up, albeit not enough on reflection. You were a special husband and an incredible father and friend to those around you. You were our meat guy! You knew what cut you needed to best feed your whanau! Thank you for being a part of our lives and for looking after our gorgeous Julz and Benji. We feel privileged to have been a part of your world. Rest easy and give Lana a big hug and chardonnay from us! Lots of love and big bear hugs, Julz and Daryl

Julie Neilson

Tom, thank you for making the world a better place for so many while you were with us. All of the special qualities you modelled and taught others through your everyday actions and attitude, will go on. Saying goodbye is hard, but saying haere rā to a great Totara like you, hurts even more. Moe mai Tom. Rest now and trust that your beautiful wife and son will have all the love and support they need and whenever they need it, because they too, are so very loved.

To Julz, Benji and whānau. We are so sorry for the loss of your precious Tom. We only knew Tom for a short time but his warmth and mana was immediately obvious. Unfortunately we couldn't attend the service but watched it online once we returned from overseas. It was an amazing celebration of his life and further reinforced to us what a special person Tom was. All of our love is with you. Moe mai ra Tom xox

To the young man who captured the heart of someone so very precious to me. You have held such a huge presence in every day and for everyone you have touched in your time here with us. I will long remember the conversations and the stories we shared in our time spent together in recent years Tom. Go well my friend, and know that you have touched the lives of many many people in so many ways. You are well remembered for the amazing husband, father, friend and mentor you have been. You will be forever in our thoughts and memories. Rest peacefully now Tom. It is well deserved.

Dear Julie, Benjii, and family. Our hearts, prayers and hugs are with you today as you celebrate Tom’s life, and grieve for him. Please know that his passing is felt deeply by his ATTTO whanau, many of whom have left messages that are summarized here. We knew Tom was a truly beautiful human. He was such a warm, genuine guy, great at his job and such fun to work with! His smile would light up the room, his eyes twinkling with mischief. We feel your loss. Tom was a great man with great mana and his presence continues in our hearts wherever he is now. He brought people along with him on the cultural awareness journey that was part of the mahi we did. He embraced us as whanau, and we embraced him, Fou his Samoan ‘wife’ Elinor his Scottish ‘wife’ because they tried to keep him in line….Willie and Aemon claimed him as their brother by another mother. But you his true whanau were always his priority. Whenever he was in Wellington or on the road he was always itching to get back home, his love for you Julie and Benjii always so tangible. When we were delivering the Kia Ora Mai training around Aotearoa he always insisted he be home for the weekend. Those were special times. Tom was a cherished and important part of our team. Many of the old ATTTO team are watching on line. Ka aroha hoki to Tom's whānau and kia kaha to the old ATTTO crew. You are in the hands of angels now Tom - you will always be remembered. Te tuku aroha. Elizabeth Valentine (Former CEO, ATTTO)

Just want to say that I’m very sorry for your guys lost. Tom was a very independent and one of a kind person. He’s the reason why I’m still living to this day. We were so privileged to know Tom, initially through sport as a coach for both cricket and football, and later in a professional capacity on the Board of Te Kura Waenga o Ngāmotu. Tom was such an encouraging and empathetic person and we will miss him dearly. Julz and Benji, our thoughts are with you xxx

We had the pleasure of meeting Tom in October 2014 when we were on our honeymoon. He was our guide for an entire day, driving us around in the surroundings of Taranaki national park. The day started with him arriving at our BnB and bringing us a bottle of bubbly, the day went on with us seeing many different sites and in the end of the day he took us out for ice creams. He was funny, heartwarming and kind. We got a really good connection that day and it was one of the best days on our honeymoon. We stayed in contact afterwards and talked on and off. We were very sad to hear about his passing. Condolences to Julz, Benji and Parsons family.

I had the pleasure of playing cricket with Tom back in the mid 90's. I remember his towering presence, genuine warmth to others and beaming smile fondly. Condolences to the entire Parsons family.

Tom quietly yet confidently sashayed into NZES and into our lives looking for that ‘dream’ chapter in his life (his words). Tom was charismatic, everything that was good, with a dry sense of humour (mostly cheeky). Tom was that true friend for life despite distance and time He found his ‘dream’ with Julz. Love you Tom. Love to Julz, kids, Parsons and Dixon whanau. A sparkling star on Puanga Matariki⭐️

My whole heart is with you and Benji, Julz, and of course the wider Parsons whanau. Tom was a one of a kind, friend to all. I will never be able to look at the “Welcome to Urenui” and “Welcome to Rahoutu” signs without a wee smile, and that’s totally his fault! Moe mai rā to an amazing man who packed a lot into too short of a time xxxx

My condolences to Julie, Benji and families. Tom a wonderful neighbor. Always so happy, a smile from ear to ear, as he would greet me. Helped me with my tramping pole and lawnmower. A truly great guy. So sorely missed.

Tom, truly a amazing neighbor, along with a wonderful sense of humor. Chatting one morning, he said he was off to a Board Meeting, Wishing him luck with that, I then noticed his surfboard tucked under his arm. The neighborhood has lost a awesome resident Much love to Julie, Benji and family Love Jean and Jewels Friend
