Tom, Tom, Tom . . . We will miss the glint in your eye, the checky smile and that contagious laugh! You always lit up a room when you entered! We always enjoyed the gatherings at yours and any time that we caught up, albeit not enough on reflection. You were a special husband and an incredible father and friend to those around you. You were our meat guy! You knew what cut you needed to best feed your whanau! Thank you for being a part of our lives and for looking after our gorgeous Julz and Benji. Unfortunately we couldn't attend the service but watched it online once we returned from overseas. Dear Julie, Benjii, and family. Our hearts, prayers and hugs are with you today as you celebrate Tom’s life, and grieve for him. He was such a warm, genuine guy, great at his job and such fun to work with! His smile would light up the room, his eyes twinkling with mischief. We feel your loss. Tom was a great man with great mana and his presence continues in our hearts wherever he is now. He brought people along with him on the cultural awareness journey that was part of the mahi we did. He embraced us as whanau, and we embraced him, Fou his Samoan ‘wife’ Elinor his Scottish ‘wife’ because they tried to keep him in line….Willie and Aemon claimed him as their brother by another mother. But you his true whanau were always his priority. Whenever he was in Wellington or on the road he was always itching to get back home, his love for you Julie and Benjii always so tangible. When we were delivering the Kia Ora Mai training around Aotearoa he always insisted he be home for the weekend. Those were special times. Tom was a cherished and important part of our team. Just want to say that I’m very sorry for your guys lost. Tom was a very independent and one of a kind person. He’s the reason why I’m still living to this day. He helped me with my life and was always there for me. My favourite thing about him that he always talked about how he meet his wife and how much he loves her. We were so privileged to know Tom, initially through sport as a coach for both cricket and football, and later in a professional capacity on the Board of Te Kura Waenga o Ngāmotu. Tom was such an encouraging and empathetic person and we will miss him dearly. Julz and Benji, our thoughts are with you xxx

We had the pleasure of meeting Tom in October 2014 when we were on our honeymoon. He was our guide for an entire day, driving us around in the surroundings of Taranaki national park. The day started with him arriving at our BnB and bringing us a bottle of bubbly, the day went on with us seeing many different sites and in the end of the day he took us out for ice creams. He was funny, heartwarming and kind. We got a really good connection that day and it was one of the best days on our honeymoon. We stayed in contact afterwards and talked on and off. We were very sad to hear about his passing. Condolences to Julz, Benji and Parsons family.

I had the pleasure of playing cricket with Tom back in the mid 90's. I remember his towering presence, genuine warmth to others and beaming smile fondly. Condolences to the entire Parsons family.

Tom quietly yet confidently sashayed into NZES and into our lives looking for that ‘dream’ chapter in his life (his words). Tom was charismatic, everything that was good, with a dry sense of humour (mostly cheeky). Tom was that true friend for life despite distance and time He found his ‘dream’ with Julz. Love you Tom.
