Helen Madge Scott

12 April 19274 August 2024

Passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her family on the Lord's Day, Sunday 4 August, in her 98th year. Dearly loved wife of the late Forrest and loving mother of Oliver, Debbie and the late Neil. Also much loved Grandma to Alex, Chris, Scott, Terry and George, and beloved Great-Grandma to Emily, Stella, William, Daniel, Austin and Chelsea.

Helen's devotion to her family was matched only by her lifelong passion for Mathematics and her enduring desire to share this with students of all ages, doing so until recently.

A service to celebrate Helen's life will be held at St Andrew's Church, 10 Clayburn Road, Glen Eden on Saturday 10 August 2024 at 10am. Flowers welcome, and also donations to West Auckland Hospice can be made through the link below and would be appreciated. 'So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.' 1 Corinthians 13:13

Tributes

Helen's life has drawn attention to the saying that so much can be told of a person by their effect on others. She has obviously had a profoundly positive effect, as a person and directly through her children and grandchildren, and through that, on the community. She has transmitted personally and by her example and inter-actions, the true values of caring, warmth, compassion, and commitment, to further generations. I see that, for instance, in Helen's daughter Deborah, whom I have known and worked with in voluntary work over a number of years, and in Stephen. May God bless Deborah and Stephen, and all Helen's family abundantly in the years ahead.

Dear Debbie, Stephen and family I post this short tribute for your mum after hearing the eulogies. Your mum was highly gifted and used her intellect and talents to glorify the Lord by her life. She imparted lasting Christian values to her children and grandchildren. She used her talents and intellect to influence people on the values she cherished most. She tirelessly worked to build up her family and community based on sound Christian teachings and held that life is a gift from God that needs to be cherished and celebrated to the end. Further she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a beacon of light for those who interacted with her. She changed many lives living the values most dear to her. Although she will be missed your mum has left a lasting legacy
