I met Lloyd in August, 2017 on my first day of work in New Zealand. My wife and kids were still in Brazil waiting for the school year to finish. I was feeling a bit lost and second guessing if this move was the right thing. He came to my desk, introduced himself and we talked and talked and talked. It was like we had known each other for years. Since then he became a dear friend not only to me but also for my family. To me a word that better describes him is: generosity. He had a genuine interest on us and how we were doing. My family have fond memories when he joined us to a weekend trip to Tiritiri Matangi (where he was a volunteer a few years back) and specially when he invited us in two different occasions to join him up north in Mimiwhantata Conservation Park, during the end of year holidays. Moving to another country is a process with many "ups" but also a few "downs". I was fortunate enough to have him as a friend and shared all the good "ups" moments and every time we were passing through a "down" period he was always there to support us. I always saw him not only as a very good friend, but also as family. I miss you a lot my dear friend. And we will never forget you. Our condolences to his close family, relatives and friends. Douglas, Ivone, Mariana, Pedro, Isabela and Aline.

I was fortunate to have worked with Lloyd for a while last year. We fairly quickly realised that we shared similar views and enjoyed similar kinds of humour. When I moved on, he took an interest in what I was doing, was supportive and encouraging, and we would exchange opinions about the absurdities of the world. He was kind, funny and a good friend. I'll miss hearing from him and his take on things. My heartfelt condolences to his close family, his friends and relatives.
