George Hurley Warm-hearted memories of our uncle George with whom Liz and I initially spent holidays in New Zealand in 2014 when we lived in Queensland, Australia. George and Joan introduced us to the local areas around Tauranga and Waihi Beach at which we seen their old house near the beach that they renovated many years before. George showed us the many craft projects that he had made including his superb pottery, chess pieces, wood carvings and the campervan that he had fitted out which he and Joan use to travel to many NZ destinations. We then again visited George and Joan in 2017 when Liz and I hired a campervan to travel around North Island. George gave us all the information on where to go and what to see as he had it all in his library of information. His garden was full of vegetable produce and plants of which he was very knowledgeable, and he showed us the many projects that he had made from wood. When we both returned home this inspired me to take up wood turning, and we constantly kept in touch with them both on Skype. He always asked about my wood turning progress and I eagerly used to show him some of the items to see what he thought, each time we Skyped he was always keen to see what I had made. He was a true inspiration to me and a wonderful uncle to have had and we shall both dearly miss him. Liz and I send our heartfelt condolences to Joan and all the family. Warmest memories. God bless George, RIP, All our love. Phil and Liz Hurley. Family in the UK.
