Sincere condolences and love to Marie and her extended family from the residents and management at Greenview Park Village. A group of us attended her service and felt we couldn’t let it pass by without letting everyone know how much she meant to us. 22 years ago she and her late husband Jack moved into our village. I wasn’t here then but there are still two or three villagers who were and have made lovely comments about her. I shifted here with my late husband Kevin 10 years ago and have looked after a number of activities in that time. Beryl was always one of the first I would contact to arrange her attendance at every event that we held, housie, films, any entertainment both inside and outside the village, TGIF, happy hour, board games etc, after happy hour, snooker, quizzes. A lot of the time she just quietly watched and was often one of the last to leave. She would wheel her walker over to the lounge most days to sit and read. Such an avid reader which was one of the abilities she lost after her stroke. Always ready to share a chat with passersby. She was a tiny wee well dressed person always. She loved clothes of many colours and I’m told was a great seamstress herself. A woman of many talents and many stories. I myself was always ready to listen about her time in Helensville. Growing daffodils and taking them to the market. One of many tales she shared with us all. Never a bad to say about anyone. Always a smile even when she was having a bad time with her health. Unfortunately for us after her stroke it was necessary for her to shift closer to Marie but it was such a pleasure to have her back with us, a westie in the end to say our goodbyes. She will be missed Heather Piper and her fellow villagers
To Shirley, Marie and families. Thinking of you all at this very sad time. It is always hard to farewell our parents regardless of how old we are. I know Ian had very fond memories of family times spent together when you were all growing up. Kind regards Sue and family.
