Tributes

Thoughts are with you at the loss of a genuinely great individual and character in the real sense. Enjoyed working with Dave in Insurance and always respected his commitment and the ethics not to mention the fun and frivolity he generated.

I have known Dave for 40+ years - we used to live round the corner from each other & that’s how I got to meet Raymond & Garry. Ray, Garry & I became great mates & as a consequence got involved in Dave’s passion - racing, which included the odd beverage ! We had some legendary Queens Birthday weekends up in Auckland - Alex Park trots on Friday night, Ellerslie Saturday, recovery day Sunday & back to Ellerslie Monday. Dave was a VIP so we were lucky to gain entry to some of the best facilities on course ! One of my favourites memories was the regular rugby matches Dave, Ray, gaz & I would have at the local primary school - it was always Ray & I v Gaz & Dave - there was no holding back & it became quite competitive but great fun ! I will miss our regular catch ups where we would discuss what’s going on in the insurance world & of course who was his hot tips for the upcoming race meetings. Dave has been a big part of our lives, being the MC at our weeding & my 40th. As the saying goes “we’re here for a good time, not a long time” - Dave certainly made the most of his years & I’m sure he’d do the same again. Rest in peace my friend & keep backing those winners up there. Our thoughts are with the family at this time. Cheers Blair Mel Maegan & Liam

Very sad to hear that Dave has died. I mainly had a work relationship with Dave. He was good at what he did and I always enjoyed chatting to him over many years. A good punter with a great sense of humour. All the very best to Dave’s family. Tim Aldridge
