Judy was a very dear friend of our mother, Mary Wightman. Mum passed away three years ago and so we are writing this on her behalf. Mum was delighted when Judy returned to live in Mangawhai. She frequently said of Judy that ‘instead of losing a friend, she was the one who returned’. They spent many pleasurable hours together playing cards, chatting and enjoying a bevy or two. Judy had a kind heart and was very supportive of Mum in her final years and for this we thank her. On behalf of Mum and the rest of our whanau, we wish to pass on our condolences to Judy’s family.

Judy, a very special person, friend of 50 years . You will always be in my heart. So many wonderful memories shared with our loved ones. Very treasured time spent remembering in the last weeks. Our boys never thought we would beat them at golf, - we did it many times, such fun. Love , condolences to Carey, Donna, Tony and their families. Love and miss you. Barbara Dobson.
Rest in peace Aunty Judy. Mum shared many loving memories of her childhood with her sisters and you Aunty Judy as you were closest in age. We heard stories of how she shared a bed with you and hid behind you when she was scared. How you’d jump from the second story window of your Nelson home and many more lovely memories which she cherished. We will miss you and send our love and condolences to Cary, Donna, Tony and families. Love, Nicki, Hugo, Bradleigh, Corban and Jess xxx
Our friendship dates back to the 1980’s, when I met Judy at the Pupuke Golf Club. We formed a close friendship and made many happy memories and had lots of laughs playing golf. We played in the inter club pennant competitions with our 'Steady Eddie', Judy always playing straight up the middle of the fairway, and always one or two putts. She won many games. We also played in team competitions with our team ‘The Awesome Foursome’. Judy’s steady play nearly always had us winning prizes. Often on the course when it would start to rain we would look at packing the game in, however Judy would always spot a tiny bit of blue sky in the distance and say “look it is going to clear”, hence we would keep playing and often get drenched. Judy was ever the optimist. It is those memories that I hold dearly my friend, you will be very sadly missed. You were a very special person Judy. My condolences to Donna, Cary and Tony and their families. Heather Selwyn

Farewell Aunty Judy. So pleased we came to see you a few weeks ago. Mum had nothing but loving, funny stories when she talked about you and she thought the world of you and Uncle Laughton. Love to Cary, Donna, Tony and families. Thinking of you all. Nicki, Hugo and family xxx
In loving memory of Aunty Judy, Mum and Dad cherished every visit to Mangawhai. Now, they'll be together again, sharing a beer and wine at 5 o'clock, reunited with Laughton. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Love Paul, Michelle, Eva and Cooper.
Dearest Judy. A close friend for 53 years and like family for many of them. My heart goes out to the family and especially to Cary, Donna and Tony. She was so fortunate to have you there for her when she needed you. She was an amazing woman and I cherish the memories of so many wonderful times together with her, and with you all. My deepest sympathy and love. Tina
Grandma, I love you and you will be missed. You truly were a special woman! You may have passed on, but your memories will always live on within us. Even though we didn’t live close it was always special when you came over to see us for a visit in Australia. Coming back to NZ to see you earlier this year with Aiden and Ruby was so special and I will talk about you often to them and show them the photos of when we came to visit beautiful Mangawhai and their great grandmother. Wherever you are, I know you are in a much better place. I will be forever grateful and thankful that you are my ‘grandma’. Rest in Peace Grandma. We will never forget you and we will always love you forever. Love Rebecca, Tyson, Aiden and Ruby x
