If I needed life advice you have been the person I call .. my whole life. I am going to miss your voice and you being here when I come home. I’ll miss your laugh and your warmth. I am so proud you were my Grandad and you understood everything. Enjoy being with Grandma again. I will miss and love you forever . From your favorite granddaughter xx
Clive had remarkable insight into what made each of his swimmers tick. This ability allowed him to give them tailored messages that helped them become successful competitors. Often, his words of wisdom meant they exceeded Clive’s expectations and their instilled in them excellent life skills which still benefit them many years on. He always expected his swimmers to be disciplined. When they failed, they had to do press-ups on the pool deck until he decided they were chastened enough to return to the water. He had a sense of humour and a sparkle in his eye and clearly enjoyed being a coach. His swimmers respected and admired him and so did their parents. Rest in peace Clive. Sue O’Dowd
So sorry to hear of your passing. We remember the early mornings, the grumpyness if we were late and the effort you put in to make sure our swimming was as good as it could be. Our condolences to the whole family. Graham, Heather, Hayden, Alana and Lincoln Payne.

So many funny stories over the years. Happy memories Clive. With love and respect. ❤️Tracey Wheeler
Fond memories of many many early mornings and late evening at Inglewood pool being coached by Clive. He was a man of ambition and drive for his athletes but always there for a laugh. Thankyou for your time and commitment to your athletes and the sport of swimming.
I am leaving this message to pay my personal and my families respect to Uncle Clive, Clive played a pivotal role in my early adult life by making and introduction to the then Stratford manager of Newton King(John Instone) I had expressed an interest in the stock & station industry and Clive facilitated the meeting which resulted in me getting my start in Kaponga what i remember of that meeting was John saying to me "if you are half as good as your uncle then you will do OK" he remained very supportive and always ready to provide sage advice. Over the last few days of reflection my lasting memories of Clive will be his many stories and his vast experiences of a life well lived, there is just one more funny event that i want to share and it involved my late brother Greg and I selling programmers at a Stratford senior game when someone said to us hey Wheeler, your "father" is a "shit" referee Stratford were obviously not winning!! It is great for us as a family to see how the twins and their brothers Ron & Peter have supported each other over these past couple of years, rest in peace uncle Clive you will be missed, Cheers DCW!!
I just wanted to let you know what a huge impact Clive had in my life. I swam with Clive from about the age of 7 until 15. He was a hard task master but he was fair. He pushd us to get results we never would of otherwise. Ill never forget the 'hell weeks' he would run once a year. Swimming 4 hours a day with a gym session in between. They were some of the toughest and most fun times of my life. He taught me the value of hard work & perserverence. He had unwavering integrity. I remember, as sure as the sun would come up, at 5.30 in the morning Clive would be at the pool, having already done 50 pressups ready to coach. How you do one thing is how you do everything. RIP Clive. You have played a pivotal role in so many lives. You will live on in the values you have imparted in so many of us.
Clive was my swimming coach from the age 8 through to 14, through some big developmental years of my life. I learnt a lot from Clive as one of the flyers and will always remember, doing pressups when I was late; the technique I learnt for breakstroke (which led me to several nationals competitions); medicine ball land based training; visualizations; and goal setting. Rest in peace Clive, thanks for everything.
So sad to hear of Clive's passing. Always happy memories of the next door neighbour in Inglewood. Condolences to Russel and Dennis and families. Memories last forever.
So sad to read of Clive’s passing. Murray and I spent a lot of time with Clive and Leonie over the years. We did trips to Australia and often to other counties.Murray and Clive were always going to seminars and meetings. Sending love and sympathy to his family.🏉❤️
