Margaret became a firm friend when as young teachers we flatted together in Kaikohe. We then travelled together on the Castel Felice. It was a one way trip for Margaret Some years later after their return to Auckland it became a real pleasure to visit her and Eduardo at Rangiatea Road. There was an amazing garden to admire and wonderful lunches to enjoy, lunches which hero-ed their fresh produce and where fellow guests were numerous. Margaret was always welcoming supportive and really interested in the wellbeing of others. A true friend.
Thank you to Margaret's family and friends for sharing many happy and moving memories of her life. Margaret and Eduardo's marriage and life together created enduring connections between two countries and through their passion for gardening, good food and Italian culture, they gave pleasure and inspiration to many people. That is a beautiful legacy.
Dear Margaret, I miss you. I still remember riding horses with you down to Maramaku School when I was 5 and you were 8-9. I was staying with you for some reason that I now can’t remember, but being with you then is a very early memory. I looked up to you immensely. Lots of love.. Clare
