To Shirley and Family, So very sorry to hear of the passing of Bede. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I went to Chanel College in Masterton, formerly St. Joseph's. Bede was also boarder there. Bede was a few years older than me, such a great guy! Boarding school life can sometimes be a bit tough and rough, and difficult to navigate. Bede always stood up for me and protected me when I was being bullied and harmed, and had no one else to turn to. Thanks Mate, You are truly one of the best people I've ever met. You helped restore my faith in humanity when I felt like giving up. Rest in Peace, God bless you Bede! Until we meet again. Steve Garvey Sydney

A long time since we all started as borders in the third form dorm at st Joseph’s aye. A lot of good times and a lot of growing up together as borders spending days and nights together for four years. Rest in peace Bede John Barrow

Dear Shirley and Family. I was in disbelief upon hearing the news of Bede’s tragic accident. I feel privileged to have known Bede having met during his time as an LIC Shareholder Councilor. Bede was professional about the responsibilities of representing the shareholders in his area, with his values always on display. Numerous Councilors'', that have either messaged or spoken with me this week, were also saddened and described Bede as a true gentleman, always positive with a warm smile, one of the good ones, and a bloody-good bugger. The Shareholder Council's visit to your farm in 2018 is still spoken about. Here we could also see Bede’s work ethic, with a well-presented property, and great-looking animals. In the many challenging times, you have before you, please know you will be in our thoughts and prayers. Thinking of you, Nathan Keoghan Past Chair LIC Shareholder Council/ Shareholder Reference Group

To Shirley, Liam, Sophie and the rest of the extended family. We were both in shock and extremely saddened to hear that Bede has passed away on Saturday morning. His passion for Dairy farming and his Jersey herd, such a hard worker and so much involvement in the farming and wider communities. Always so keen to help young farmers out and give advice at discussion groups. We are still so thankful Bede and you gave us a chance and let us run your farm. We learnt so much working side by side you and Bede. Bede's words of advice and teachings have stuck with me, being important in our farming business to returning back to work as a vet. "Observation, Observation, Observation", "Attention to detail" and my favourite "Ten dollars looks a lot better in my back pocket than some other buggers". He will be missed by many, RIP Bede
