It saddens me to hear of Aunty Ruth’s passing, and so soon after popa (Evan Ley). It was a pleasure knowing such loving caring lady, I have many memories of catching up in the supermarket as a kid and remembering getting annoyed because mum and aunty Ruth would stand there for what felt like hours talking away. I am glad my son, Jeriko had the honour of meeting her also ♥️ May you rest in peace with Uncle Charlie and Popa. Love you always ♥️
A beautiful ladies Ruth and Charlie were our club neighbours it was a pleasure to know you and looked forward to your visits we were the lazy ones not to come and visit . My moko came not long ago to bring her baby to meet you. We would talk about so much stuff. I remember you ringing say you had a new moko Lydia whom I called Charlott sorry Lydia and I made her a back pack out of harakeke. Then you told me about Ralph's baby which I made him a wahakura. It was a pleasure to know you sweet Ruth you are finally with your Charlie rest in peace hun
Ruth you were such a good friend and I am really sorry I could not get there today at your farewell
It is with a heavy heart that I learn of your passing, Aunty Ruth. You were my only connection to my father, Albert, and I am truly grateful for the time I spent with you and Uncle Charlie. Your kind words about my dad helped me feel a deeper connection to him. Now, you get to sit beside my dad and your brothers. Love you, Aunty Ruth.
Ruth, it saddens me deeply to hear of your passing. You were a true role model, not only to your own children but to anyone that needed comfort and understanding. You were always loving, caring and always welcomed me and my family with open arms. You were never judgemental regarding issues I was dealing with, and always gave good advice to help me to see through the fog. Thank you for being there when I needed someone to talk to. You were like a second mum to me and although you are no longer with us you have a special place in my heart that will be cherished forever. Lots of Love Gwena.
Hello, Sorry to hear of Aunties passing, sending you all our love, thoughts and prayers. I remember when I first meet Aunty Ruth back in the 1980's while I was traveling around the North Island. She and Uncle Charlie were very hospitable and cooked us a lovely meal with her home grown vegetables. Aunty Ruth's smile lit up the room and made everyone feel at home and wanted. I was surprised to see how similar she looked to my Dad Robert, it was very comforting, and we had lots to talk about. The last time we saw you it was lovely to still see your beautiful smile and the love you shared. You will be sadly missed Aunty Ruth. Our love goes out to all your family. xxooxx Love Debbie, Steve and Family
Nana, you were my rock in a stormy childhood. With you I built spaceships, planted gardens and explored jungles, escaping from the reality of a surreal life. I loved the frozen gingernut cookies, the milk, the sense of warmth and safety you provided. As I grew into adulthood, I adored your cheeky humor and admired your strong sense of self. You had a voice and you weren’t afraid to use it. And yet you have all the attributes of a beautiful being: Kindness, Empathy, Generosity, Humility, Loyalty. Thank you for loving and protecting me. You formed an core part of my character and I will forever carry you with me.
