Ros, in her 96th year peacefully returned to her beloved God on the 21st October 2024 at Tainui Village, New Plymouth.

Loved daughter of the late Noel and Nancy Robertshawe, Ros was born in England on the 9th June 1929.  Loved eldest sister of John, Mark (dec), Ralph, Con (dec) and Helen and sister-in-law to Eileen, Gloria and Diana. Loved and respected by her nieces and nephews and their families.

Ros was a former Headmistress of Waikato Diocesan School in Hamilton and St Mary’s Diocesan School in Stratford. She was a licenced Liturgist and sacristan at the Taranaki Cathedral, duties which she loved. The family wish to thank those at Tainui who cared for Ros and offer especial appreciation to Bali Haque who has managed her affairs in recent years.

No flowers please but a donation to the Taranaki Cathedral’s Earthquake Strengthening Project would be appreciated and may be left at the service.

Tributes

It was with sadness that we heard last weekend of Ros's passing. Joan had the pleasure of staying with Ros and Con a few years ago when volunteering for the Womad event, enjoying learning a little about their lives thus far, and experiencing their wonderful generosity of spirit. Ros will be sadly missed by her family, both personal and Church, and her friends. Her commitment to living a Godly life, and to her community, was much to be admired. Thinking of Ros's family and friends, near and far, especially today for her funeral service, and hoping they will find comfort as they support each other through her final journey home. May Ros rest in peace knowing she was well loved. Sincere condolences Joan and Jon Robertshawe

Dear John, Ralph and Helen, John and I send you our sincerest sympathy as you farewell Ros today. We moved to Hamilton a year ago so will not be joining you in person but via the video link. We have both appreciated the connections with you over the years in New Plymouth and Taupo and want to add our words of gratitude for Ros's life and ministry among us. What a stalwart Ros has been in every context - family, church, schools and organisations. So many have benefitted from her fine intellect, breadth and depth of reading, her faith, wisdom and compassion, her inner strength and sense of humour. We appreciated the hospitality we received from Ros and Con at Mill Road and were privileged to assist in their transfer to Tainui Village though it was a challenge to decide which books to take as Ros wanted to read or re-read so many! Thank you Ros for the way you gave of yourself to others - you have made a difference in many, many lives. On this ALL SAINTS DAY may you be counted among the ' extra-ordinary 'everyday' saints without whom our lives would be the poorer. May the light of God's countenance shine upon you and bring you peace. John and Sue

I write this tribute to Ros full of gratitude for having known her. She was a woman of many skills, with a heart for her Lord and Master and for those she came to know as friends and colleagues. I remember trips up to Hamilton with her to Diocesan meetings. Conversation was not a problem at all. We talked most of the way there and back! She had a sharp mind with a likeable compassion that shone through. She was consistent in her understanding of her faith and the way she lived. Hospitality was part of that and she was always generous in this respect. You lived a long and full life Ros and have made an indelible mark on St Mary's. Rest in Peace good and faithful servant. Dear Ros our paths have crossed for 40 years in Feilding when you took the choir at St.Johns teaching Victoria the discipline and joy of singing. Again in New Plymouth through the companions of Franciscan and having franciscan meetings and lunch with your Mother and more recently being Chaplain st Tainui. Great respect for you and your family love to all and special thanks to John for his hell in Feilding.

We warmly look back on Rosamund's years at Waikato Diocesan School and her chairing of the Waikato Board of Christian Education. She stood out with her deep commitment to both the education of young people, and to her faith. In our Napier years it was good to share in her brother Mark's family life and especially meet up again with Ros. A remarkable church family in their generation Grace and peace to all !

Kind & loving oldest sister of my childhood friend Helen. Our family attended St Marks Church when her father Canon Robertshawe was vicar there in the 50’s & early 60’s. Helen’s family was often my 2nd home. Ros always showed interest in what I was doing over the years. The last time I visited her at Tainui she was bright and alert, she lived a full & rich life. Love to her family.

I was sad to read of Ros's passing, but what a wonderful life she enjoyed that will have left you with lots of memories to treasure. I have many happy memories of times spent with the family over the years - such an interesting family who were all so committed to their God and church, your time to rest has come Ros. Thinking of you all. Helen.

I enjoyed working for Miss Robertshawe immensely, and looking after her little dog from time to time. Her 90th birthday was a wonderful celebration! My husband and I visited her at Tainui in New Plymouth - and Miss Robertshawe and I have enjoyed many telephone conversations over the years, which I will miss. She was a wonderful lady and friend. She did indeed love God and her church.

Ros was my cousin. Her mother was the older sister of my father. Ros always took an interest in my career pathway to become a teacher in my earlier years and was a generous host more recently when I was passing through New Plymouth on the way to Whanganui or when John my husband and I were staying. She went to a lot of trouble to give me and our daughter Joanna details about family connections in the UK when we were planning to spend time there on our OE. She served her church faithfully and will be very much missed.
