HARRINGTON, John Raymond (John Boy) 18-11-1941 – 27-10-2024

It is with great sadness; we announce the passing of a much-loved best friend and husband to Val for 61 years.  Loved son of the late Rita and Stanley Harrington and loved son-in-law of the late Violet and Lloyd Jones.  Great mate and loved dad of sons Craig, and Carl and daughter-in-law Tracey.  Also loved friend of Tamara.  Wonderful fun Poppa of Mason and Jasmine (Melbourne), Bo and Millie, Ben and Shannon, Jade and Hayden, Luke, Brittani and Troy, and Johnny and Great Grandpop to Angel, baby Cole Harrington and expected baby Wilkinson.  Loved brother-in-law to John Minto and the late Les, Bob and Clare, Kay, Graeme, Russell and Margaret and Raeoni (all deceased).  Most loved brother-in-law of Pam Sutherland, Julie and Brian Jones. A much-loved uncle and friend to many.  John, you were the sunshine of all our lives.  You were one of the kindest men and a huge strength in the Harrington family (The Legend).  As per John’s wishes, a private celebration of Johns life has been held in Nelson.  For those who would like to view the service will be livestreamed, please visit https://www.shoneandshirley.co.nz/tributes

RIP John Harrington, You loved life & your family John, this certainly came throught in your photo tribute. It has been a pivilege to have known you and to have this family connection between the Harrington/Fisher families, here on the Coast. Fantastic photo tribute of your life, in your funeral service. You were a hard worker John, and I remember you telling me also that you thought your Dad was such a hard worker he wouldn't get home until 2am in the morning, after his trip up the Grey Valley./Waiuta. on a Friday. You never did get around to brewing that Waiuta Gold. Deepest Sympathy to Val and your families. Margaret Sadler Greymouth.

Words can’t express how we loved, admired and thought about. Both John and Val who treated us like family. John gave me the opportunity to fulfil my life when I bought the CEB from him. From my heart sincerely he was the best man I have eVer met in my life. He was so positive, terrific sense of humour and spending time at the Harriingtons was an absolute priviledge. Love you John and Val and I know Val will have a gap in her life but the family are an so supportive and loving she will be looked after. Bye for now my dear friend John you are in my heart forever. Can’t wait to see you and have a Harrington’s beer all my love Annette xx

My childhood playmate. So sad you have gone Brun. But so pleased that we spent quality time together about 18 months ago. Should have come back again though, but our time goes so fast now at our age. Rest in peace my friend. The Patriarch has gone.

To John’s family - our deepest condolences to you with the passing of John. He was part of Mum & Dad’s lives since they were all little children on the Wild West Coast. They remained very dear friends for over 60 years! Many stories and fabulous times shared together. Lots of parties and great times. John was always very kind, caring and interested in what we were doing. A very special, kind man. He will be missed by all that knew him. Love to Val & Family xx
