Tributes

The Golden Sunset by Samuel Longfellow The golden sea its mirror spreads Beneath the golden skies, And but a narrow strip between Of earth and shadow lies. The cloud-like cliffs, the cliff-like clouds, Dissolved in glory, float, And midway of the radiant floods Hangs silently the boat. The sea is but another sky, The sky a sea as well, And which is earth and which the heavens The eye can scarcely tell. So when for me life's latest hour Soft passes to its end, May glory, born of earth and heaven, The earth and heaven blend. Flooded with light the spirits float, With silent rapture glow, Till where earth ends and heaven begins The soul shall scarcely know.

Claire, I worked with you on my first observers shift with St John many many years ago and we became friends. I valued your friendship and your outlook on life. We shared many a laugh at events, especially the Ladies Day races and Field Days. The dinners, wines and outings were memories I will carry for ever. My love to your special family who now have to go through life without their loving Claire. Rest in Peace my friend.

That was a beautiful service. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to be with you all to farewell Claire, albeit remotely. All our love to Myra and Andrew, Steve and Ian. You all spoke so well, we imagine she would be proud of you all. A beautiful lady taken far too soon, she will be missed by many people whose lives she touched. Tony and Jeanine

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to our dear colleague, Claire, who passed away far too soon. I had the privilege of working with Claire at Hamilton Radiology for just over two years, but her impact on me and everyone around her will last a lifetime. Claire was truly world-famous within Hamilton Radiology. She had been with the company for so many years that she was a fixture here—part of the very fabric of the place. Her extensive experience and wealth of knowledge were invaluable to all of us. She was always happy to share her wisdom, guiding and mentoring new staff, and helping us all navigate the daily challenges of the job. What truly stood out about Claire was her ability to bring lightness to any situation. Even when she wasn’t feeling her best, Claire could always crack a joke or offer a smile that would brighten the room. Her warmth, humour, and generosity made her a friend to everyone, and she had an uncanny way of making people feel seen and appreciated. Since her passing, we've received countless messages from people across the Waikato—friends, colleagues, and acquaintances who crossed paths with Claire over the years. Each message speaks to the profound impact she had on the lives she touched. It is clear that Claire’s kindness, professionalism, and humour reached far beyond our team at Hamilton Radiology. Her loss is deeply felt by all of us here, but we take comfort in the knowledge that Claire’s legacy will live on in the many lives she enriched. We will miss you dearly, Claire, but we will always remember you with great fondness and gratitude. Thank you for everything you gave us—your wisdom, your laughter, and your friendship.

CLAIRE...AN AMAZING WONDER WOMAN After 83 years of friendship, Myra and Jennifer say goodbye to Claire. She has let go of the ongoing pain and crossed over the Rainbow Bridge to a pain free place. For years she has not let the severity of her condition get in her way. Nothing stopped her from fulfilling her dreams. Sharing time out trout fishing on Lake Rotorua where she caught her limit in just a couple of hours was such fun. Weighing and measuring each trout to make sure hers were the biggest. A trip to Noosa with Myra was the biggest kept secret. Claire had so much fun secretly planning the forthcoming holiday for the three of us. Text messaging confirmed all our plans. Meeting at Auckland Airport was a huge surprise to Myra. Claire drove and entertained us in the land of OZ for ten days, making Myra's birthday special. How thrilled I was to hear of the Honors bestowed upon her through St John. So many lovely times she shared with our family will now be memories. With rings on her fingers and rings on her toes, she will have peace wherever she goes. Graham and I will always have a place in our hearts for Claire, such a compassionate, caring and loving friend.
