We are sad to farewell Ian, much loved husband of Mary, loved father of Rebecca, Daniel, Matthew and Rachel, Dad to Ami and Pasi Pasikale. Brother to Lorraine Mangan & Gary Culver. We find solace in knowing he is now healed and free of the struggles he found so hard and yet endured with such grace and is now at peace with the Lord whom he loved so much. We would love you to join us as we remember and celebrate Ian’s life on Monday 18th of November, 1.30 at The Lychway Funeral Home in Palmerston North.

As the maker of things like my sister Rebecca mentioned. Our dad made Pahi and I this beautiful pen, pen case out of wood and carved our names on the pen for our wedding day. 3 things I learned from him. Reading the word of God and having a relationship with him. Freedom in finance making sure the bills are paid and money is saved. I became a chef because of him and mum. As you know Ian was a very generous man. He provided so much for us. I thought I wasnt smart enough to study Cheffing at the time. They pushed me to give it a try. I couldnt afford to pay for my City and Guilds international cert which would help me work outside of Nz anywhere around the world and they paid for it and of course I passed all my exams. Mum and dad was very proud. I finished my exams 2 days before we got married and graduated the following year. Im now a qualified chef because of mum and dad. Wow what a legend he was and left a big whole in my heart 😠I came to him broken and he showed me love like no other made me feel i belong. I was just a stranger an ophan who needed a Father and God put him in my life for his glory. Thank you dad. You will always hold a special place in my heart forever. Till we meet again I love you. Ami
I met Ian and Mary about 41 ago. Ian was like a father to me during my preteen, early 20 years and will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a wonderful man, father, husband, friend.
Ian was a close, trusted family friend. From Rochelle's teenage years to our marriage and raising the family, Ian, and Mary have been a continual source of encouragement and together modeled Christian service. Ian was a highly personable and practical plumber, a master chef at the grill, and always good company. Ian, your love for Jesus is only surpassed by Jesus' love for you, now and always. Rest well, faithful servant.
