Paua chutney is what I think of, when I think of Norm I still remember the day you made me drive out to your place to teach me how to make it and you wrote the recipe down. I’ll now look at your handwriting every time I make and think and remember that day for ever R.I.P legend

Dear Donna & Family, sorry to read of Norm passing. Lovely Gentlemen & Great Neighbor. Sorry we can't be with you today. Our thoughts have been and are with you. Regards Sue & Sean P.s. No more hedges Norm Catch up when we're home Donna xo
To all the Cleaver Family. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad time. Have many fond memories of Norman at Colac Bay School, his softly spoken manner but meant what he said. On the Aparima River whitebaiting but couldn’t wait to get back to the Sludge where he said he caught a lot more there. Another Colac Bay icon moves on but lots of great memories. Lynette and Stuart Heath
Our condolences on this difficult day. We didn't know Norman, but have heard so much about him over the last few months from Jacqui. She is so proud of her Dad. We've enjoyed hearing stories about his strength and his sense of humor, right to the last days. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.
Thinking of you all today. We will remember him with as the gentle and kind man he was.. sending lots of aroha ❤️ to you all.
Our deepest sympathy to Donnah and all the families at this difficult time.
Our deepest condolences to all the family. And to Norm, my memories are of him in the mighty green Corolla, Turff Digest in hand to place a bet at the TAB. Cups of tea and home baking. And the most immaculate looking lawns. Now with a birds eye view of the race track. Quietly spoken, and when he did speak you listened. Rest in paradise.
Our Sincere thoughts are with Norman and his family and this very sad time. Norm was a man respected by many, quiet and generous a gentleman in the true sense. Sorry we can't be with you all today as you celebrate Norms life.
Will be so dearly missed, one of life's good buggers and such a caring and generous personality which he passed on to his children. RIP Norm. Love Wendy, Dave and girls.
Donna and Cleaver clan. Jen, Lesley and I would like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the Cleaver family and all Norms friends and neighbors. Jen and I have very fond memories of Norm and to name them would take a long time but here are a small sample our most memorable Kevin, Lois and Norm welcomed Jen and I to Colac bay with kind words which were backed up much more than words by their actions. Beer o' clock almost every night at 5pm. The amount of people I have told in Ireland about the Mulqueens and Cleavers about that wonderful ritual. Tuesday night golf in Riverton. Norm would collect me which meant me supplying the large bottles of Speights afterwards. As a golfer Norm had nerves of steel and rarely missed a short putt on the greens. I found out as hooker for Riverton he took the goal kicks. That speaks of nerve and character. Norm taught me how to find cockles down by the stream. He also showed me how he cooked mussels and the secret of Granny Fayes batter. I ate so many of "dem" that I always had to starve myself when I got home to Ireland for at least three months. I had put on a bit of weight. Us Irish have a few problems with de th's. He was always very generous with his recipes and knowledge. Terrific memories of Donna and Norm and his trip to Ireland. We did everything together which by the end of the day was summarised with a couple beers, Bacardi and coke. My long list of jobs I hadn't got round to almost got completed in the two weeks he was here. Back to golf Norm and I challenged John Barrett and Cecil Ferguson to a round of golf as we had never been beaten before. If you believe that you will believe anything!!! We won but they won the beer drinking competition afterwards. That happened a fair few times. The stories go on and on forever. What a friend he has been to me and Jen. "Tree" of adjectives to describe Norm Generous Humble and a Gentleman Irish and Mrs Irish miss you, may you rest in peace, keep the faith
